so . . . games . . . satanic?
People who denounce games are pretty much like the folks that denounce Harry Potter.. they just don't have a clue. I'm not a gamer in the D&D M:TG sense. Closest I ever got was a couple of rounds of D&D's crappy ripoff of Magic. Magic just held no allure to me, and I wasn't allowed to play D&D. My mom isn't a fundamentalist, but she was kind of paranoid about it when it first came out. I got to play it later, but never really got into it.
(As a side note, I was buying cards at the comic shop when everyone else was buying cases of M:TG cards. Only I was buying Penthouse and Playboy collector cards. WOOOOOO!)
The fundies that denounce games like that as tools of the devil generally exhibit signs that they're acting under the principle of "I don't understand it, so it must be evil!" It's the same logic that says singing and dancing is evil.
As for Harry Potter (not to diverge.. but it's a similar idea, I think), most of the folks that denounce it have clearly never so much as read the synopsis on the dust jacket. There really isn't even very much witchcraft in the books. The dominant themes are friendship, teamwork, compassion, and such. In the first book, Dumbledore tells Harry that he was protected from Voldemort because of the sacrafice his mother had made out of love.
The very essence of the first novel is a mother's love for her child is more powerful than any magic. How the HELL is that satanic?????????
As another aside in the vein of "bowling for fundamentalists," my mother was telling me the other day that when people ask about her children, she says, "I have two sons. One is gay, and one is Buddhist." She said she loves watching them grapple with THAT.

The funniest part is, the way you phrased it, it could be she has one normal son and one that is a gay Buddhist!

I don't care who's right, who's wrong, or what you meant to say. Only thing I care about is the Truth. If you have it, good, share it. If not, find it. If you want to argue, do it with someone else.

One normal son? Are you calling buddhism somehow abhorrent to the natural order? Or homosexuality is being reduced to an act only for deviants?!
Nah, I'm just screwing with you
I think that's about right. Though now I am pissed. I was outside playing my GB and a bunch of fundamentalist Christian ass monkeys came up, declared video games were evil, grabbed my GB, and smashed it on the ground. I then spent the next 5 minutes beating the fuck out them.I am at the breaking point here, I don't think I am going to be able to deal with these people for much longer, they are getting more avid and more tenacious(I think that's the right word).
You know, they actually broke a bible-rule. They stole your GB, right?
- Thou shalt not steal
sound familiar? yup, one of the 10 commandmends.
And they actually broke it too.
That's - Thou shalt not steal + number of pieces it was broken into
Their saving throw is useless, and you hit them for 5000 hitpoints per piece.

Does that make you the gay son?
My idiot Christian-fanatic mother won't let me play D&D or M:TG. I'm stuck with the new Star Wars RPG, and it's no fun at all.

Go pick up a copy of In Nomine, where you can play as a soldier in the armies of heaven battling the demon armies of hell for control of the world.

If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.
