My computer freezes about 5 mins after windows finishes load

Q&A, advice, reviews, and news about the computers, phones, TVs, stereos, and pretty much anything else that can't be easily whittled out of a stick or chipped out of stone.

We have no way of knowing if there is a legitimate license, hence the warning. I'm aware of the replacement CDs, but downloading it is generally *not* legal. Just ask Microsoft.
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

Check your memory sticks. I had MANY, MANY problems that appeared completly unrelated to memory (a few just like yours) because of a single bad memory stick. I removed the stick and my computer worked fine.

One of the reasons I say memory, is because as your computer loads, it will take up more and more memory, at a certain point, it may be hitting the bad memory chip\stick and causing it to freeze.
