Chain Mail tutorial

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

Chain Mail tutorial

Post by katie_spade » Mon Jul 14, 2003 9:17 pm

I though there was one up about a year ago about the chain mail and the process you used to make it. Every month we get a new person asking how to make it. I was just wondering if Greg could make some instructions or a tutorial link on his site. I could have sworn he made something to that effect one time but I cannot find it on the real life comic’s site or the archives.

If I get some free time sometime next week, perhaps I can do that. I've been meaning to make a good one for a while now.

To make a chain mail:

Start with some people saying it really wroked for them

Then, have some sort of wish they must think and concentrate on

Have a GIGANTIC gap, will little stars to scroll through

End it with a wish rating.

Send the mail t 1-5 people, your wish will come true in a billion years

6-10, in a million

11-15 in a thousand

etc

Send it to a TON of people ( i have a few thousand adresses, if you need them)

And there you have it, instant chain mail!!! ^.^

Send it to a TON of people ( i have a few thousand adresses, if you need them)
Easier way to Propagate Chain Mail

1) Select a random insect and search for its taxonomy on Google. (e.g. Grasshopper).

2) On the page, find the most menacing words you can (e.g. Genus: Ammodramus)

3) Locate the name of a random corporate attorney on Yahoo's Yellow Pages, preferably in a state not your own. Visit their website and grab one attorney's contact info.
(e.g.
Price, Elorac, & Marlowe
Michael Bernard Price
(609)-394-9666
720 Kipling Street
Suite 800
Trenton, NJ 08609

(this example not a real attorney) This will give legitimacy to your email.

4) Create email warning of a very bad virus! (refer to Snopes for sample virus hoax text)
This information arrived this morning, from Microsoft and Norton. Please send it to everybody you know who accesses the Internet.
You may receive an apparently harmless email with the title "Really fun, supercool stuff!!!!111oneoneone"

If you receive it DO NOT OPEN THE FILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, and delete it immediately.

If you open this message, your entire hard drive will be erased! It's a potent strain of the Ammodramus virus.

This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon. WE NEED TO DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO STOP THIS VIRUS.

UOL has already confirmed its dangerousness, and the antivirus Softs are not capable of destroying it.

MAKE A COPY OF THIS EMAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS.

Price, Elorac, & Marlowe
Michael Bernard Price
(609)-394-9666
720 Kipling Street
Suite 800
Trenton, NJ 08609
5) Manually add ">" to the message to make it look like a forward, and then send it to a bunch of people (preferably those who get spooked by viruses easily).

6) BAM. Chain mail in 5 minutes that guaranteed to spread.

EDIT: Played with the wording a bit.
- We were never being boring. We had too much time to find for ourselves.

Hm. I'm reluctant to use the term chain mail (which is apparently a modern bastardisation of the term "mail" (maille/maile) which referred generically to a number of segmented armour (scale, chain links, etc.).

I have a better idea anyhow. Do what I did and buy a full set of fluted plate armour.

*Coughs* Um. Yes. I also have a claymore. Um. *Listens to a voice to one side* Yes, yes I do play Ultima Online. *Looks off screen again for a moment* Yes, I do understand runic. *Looks at a piece of paper off screen* That? It says "Ylem Ort Uus An Rel Ex An Grav Ex Ex Kal, Lor Ort Sanct Ex Rel..." Hey! :x

Oh. Er. Back on topic, go here for a guide. I've heard it's fairly good.

Which is impossible. What people seem to forget about mail is that it's just a coat of metal that's full of HOLES.

Never go up against archers wearing just mail.
