I cant believe no one has mention the master of orion games.. far as i know the original MOO put turn based strategy into the spotlight, way before any Civ game. The second one wasnt quite as great, as it was a bit overwhelming at first and seemed to just get blah near the end. And I havent played the 3rd one yet, but I've heard it was pretty steep on the learning curve, and had too much micromanagement. But the first Master of Orion should most definatly be on the list. (if you've never played it, go on the net and find it... now)
I really need a new sig....

Ones I think should be one there that we've missed so far:
Arkanoid: Doh It Again
The Legend of Dragoon
Warlords
Ninja Gaiden
Adventure Island

Thats all I can think of.

Yeah, the first one. It ran on a 286 with an EGA moniter, but it was still good.

Hmmm... I didn't like Legend of Dragoon. Oh, well.

I've got a few more:

Warcraft II
Xenosaga
Super Mario 64
Megaman X4
Metal Gear Solid 2 (Substance?)
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 (or 4, maybe)
Soul Calibur II

I can go with all of those except Tony Hawk, Metal Gear Solid, and Warcraft 2. First off, Warcraft 3 was so much better. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was boring and stupid and repetative and got old in 10 minutes. Metal Gear Solid 2 just wasn't fun.

True, Warcraft III was better, but II was awesome when it first came out.

MGS2 was awesome. The only things that kept it from being perfect were the lame story and that whiny man-bitch, Raiden. If only there were a game with the awesome story of MGS, and the great gameplay of MGS2...

THPS is the only sports game series I actually enjoy. It's simply fun. 3 was probably the best, since it was the first one to have PS2 or GC quality graphics, and the last one to contain originality.

How the hell can you list Starcraft as being one of the best games ever? No, I'm not saying its a good game. Its just not that great. You want to toss up the RTS that started the whole genre, you're going to have to go with War Craft. Or Warcraft 2. I never played Warcraft 1. I mean fuck, all Star Craft is is a further developed Warcraft with more technology and time for hardware to advance behind it (IE: Shiny fucking graphics)

Thats reason enough for you to NOT be on the board. You obviously have very little experience with playing RTS competetively. War2 had 2 identical races, StarCraft burst out with 3 very different races, but perfectly balanced. VERY few games have done that. StarCraft is still regarded as the best balanced RTS out there. Sheesh. Your post pissed me off more than I can say. I'm sick of RTS-retarded people spouting off their mouths. Just keep it shut Mav.

And oh yea, Goldeneye had the best 4 player multiplayer I've ever had. More hours than I could possibly count, let alone remember, were put into some of the funnest rounds ever. Power Weapons all the way. But Pistols was fun... you gotta be skillfull... :)

NorthernComfort speaks the truth: Starcraft is superior to Warcraft II because of the different but balanced races.

Oh, and Mav: There's nothing wrong with shiny fucking graphics. :D
