2k Server Fun
Well yippy!
So theres this server at work, that I upgraded today to sp4, but that screwed a few things up (infact it got it stuck in an endless reboot) so I uninstalled it.
Now for some reason the server believes there is a security policy saying that administrator (or any other account) is not allowed to log on locally.
Anyone have an idea as to how I can fix this, short of reinstalling the os? It's really busting my chaps.
Thanks

Is it in a domain? If so, you can try replicating a security policy out that allows admins to log on locally.
I've not seen this problem before on other servers, or mentioned on the mailing lists. I know of a few people that are fairly unhappy with SP4, though.

If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

Martin: Yea, its in a domain, infact it's the domain host. This is definitly one of the odder problems I've come across in my carer. (NOTE: not one of the hardest, but a bit odd...which I guess makes it difficult) I'll see if I can access the policies using the admin tools...
Millsy I did a repair to get it out of the endless reboot...but I hadn't even thought of doing another one to get this security policy working...worth a shot. I'll try it when I get into work.
TopCat: Oww...that hurt to read....and I'd love to go into the administrative tools and fix the policy, but the policy states I can't login (and I am admin) making that a rather difficult perdicimate.
Thanks for the suggestions though everyone.
Dang...I have to go to work today (sunday) and try and fix this....that sucks...

HAHA!! I got it working, and actually...it was relatively easy.
What I did to get in:
First, I installed the admin pack onto another machine.
Then loaded up the Active Users and Settings, and connected to the domain controller.
Next, I created a new organizational unit, right clicked it, accessed its properties.
Then, under group policy, I added it to the Domain Controller group, and clicked edit.
Finally, I went into the "Log on locally" settings, and added administrator back.
And then everything worked. Hurray for me!
Thanks for your help though everybody. (On a side note, I now have a ghost image of the server's system drive sitting on a DVD, to prevent future hassles...though this one was relatively easy once I actually started thinking.)
