1) I think you mean DSL High Speed Internet.
2) Internet Sharing Icon? I'm not familiar with this icon. There's the networking Icon... but... I dunno, Mb?

if you have a router like linksys or something then it can be setup easily as a gateway to share the net connection, but if you mean your using the ics check box option know what error messages are being displayed by the machine that can't get on the net. it most likley is a dns issue which is why you got some web pages, ( as they were in the cache and have been removed automatically for being to old and now you can't get any web pages). i'd have to experiment with what you gave so if you would give some more info about your problem that would help alot. but mainly check if your second computer is using the same dns as the first one.

Comp1 must have two NICs. Comp2 needs one. (I'm sure you already know this, but for those playing at home...)

Connect Comp1 to the internet connection. Ensure that it all works and is happy.

Go to Start | Settings | Network Connections. Make sure the View is on Details (View menu, select Details).

Find the connection marked Enabled. Right-click on the name of the connection and select Rename. Set the name to something sensible, like 'DSL'.

Find the other connection. As above, rename it, but mark it something like 'Shared'.

Right-click on DSL and select Properties. Go to the Advanced Tab. Click on "Allow Other Computers to Connect Through This Computer's Internet Connection. From the drop-down menu, select Shared. Uncheck "Allow Other Network Users to Control or Disable the Shared Internet Connection". Click OK.

I suggest you get a firewall of some kind, like ZoneAlarm or SyGate Personal Firewall. If you have one, try disabling it to see if that is interfering with ICS.

Let me know how this works.
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

Ugh, I remember ZoneAlarm, it gave me all sorts of crap, and royally screwed up my computer, I had to uninstall it.

You disabled ZoneAlarm and tested connectivity?

It had to do with the log files it had being corrupt and making Windows get all pissy, and that screwed up everything else, I wasn't the only person this happened to. My friend had the same problem.

Bridging is not a good idea, It not what it is designed for.

you have two nics that are not plugged into the dsl modem, and niether have the ics checkbox selected.

try this though setup one nic connected into the dsl modem set it the obtain ipadress autonatically.
set the second nic to a static adress like 192.168.1.1 set the second comps nic to another static adress like 192.168.1.2, know if you have a hub connect both comps static nic to the hub turn shareing on the first dhcp nic then it should be working good. you can buy a cheap little hub that will work for probally like 20 or 30 dollars.
of course i would just break down and buy a linksys router set it to gate way turn its dhcp on plug the modem into the wan socket in the router connect the 2 comps to sockets 1, and 2 NOT THE UPLINK socket this works effortly and takes all of 5 secs to setup.

yeah uplink is if you want to make a patch cable emulate a crossover, because the uplink is crossover internal. i agree, buy the router, its the best 70 bucks (or less) you'll ever spend on a router (hehe)
