Sad discovery

Post by asp55 » Sat Jul 26, 2003 9:38 am

I can't spell and I know it. It's a sad sad fact.

And being that I can't spell, and a few of my friends are editor types, I run most anything I type through word to make sure there aren't blatant spelling errors.

What I find really sad is the fact that google serves as a better spell checker than word, or dictionary.com. I type in my mystery word (which word had no clue about, and dictionary.com gave me guesses like "monkey") and google just says did you mean this to which I can only say "I sure did".

Am I the only one who thinks this is sad?

I think this thread is sad. I'm depressed that I have lost so much time.

:P Google is faster than dictionary.com or m-w.com too. :P and definately faster than a regular real dictionary.

Hmm... I rarely use dictionaries, haven't ever really... I started off as a lamer and slowly learned to spell based on what people yell at me for and what people didn't yell at me for.

Now I'm very obsessive about making sure I'm writing properly, though there's still a few words that stump me, and I'm NEVER going to look them up! EVER!

for the most part i'm fairly punctual, but i tend to hit the space bar too late once in a while when i'm typeing fast. my keyboard had a spell check key i just hit and it's pretty good about spellchecking stuff for me :)

there was a clever poem i saw once about spell checkers, if i can find it i'll post it.

I don't make too many spelling mistakes, but DAMN, do I make a lot of typos... Forums are great because I can look over what I said and take as much time as I want replying. Chat lines suck for the opposite reason.
