i've seen backweb before, and It comes if you have a western digital hard drive. check the root of your hard drive, you'll see it. lol.

it may be a different backweb that you have, though.

Do you have a Logitech device? If so, Backweb is likely being loaded by it for driver update checks. A few other programs use it, too; basically, it's a program that sits in the background and checks for new remote files.
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

Scroll on down to the one about the Logitec Elite keyboard, or i'll just copy and paste (and preserve links, how handy)
Logitech Elite Keyboard requires brain the size of a planet

Hello,

I just read Charlie Demerjian's amusing review of the Logitech keyboard. I was hoping that the writer would mention something about the fact that Logitech installs a bit of spyware called backweb during the install process (that is not picked up by AdAware, BTW). I find it offensive that you would pay for a product that spies on you.

Keep up the excellent work!

Ad-Aware 6.0 doesn't pick it up for me.

Backweb is a multimillion dollar company, around for a lot longer than spyware has been. The deal between Logitech and Backweb is legit -- you can see Backweb's press release here. However, if you're that worried about it, you can disable it or stop the process, and no harm will come to you.
