Scary Christians against roleplaying
Okay, I am a roleplayer, it's great and all that... and there have always been voices speaking against roleplaying, rock music and all other "occult" phenomenas. But you've gotta see this, this is really scary!

You don't have to read it all, a few lines is enough to give you a good view of these people...

Wouldn't a lack of oxygen just make their paranoid delusions all the worse?
Actually, initially, I had to convince my mom we weren't satan worshipping or anything at our RP's either........ But all I had to say was, we're not, that's stupid. And it was enough.
I don't have a problem with questioning it. Lord knows there HAS been SOME evidence in the past to link RPing with problems like that..... but it doesn't make RPing evil.

I intended to post when I read the topic, but after reading what Blaze has to say, I can't agree more. I'm a Christian, I'm also a coder for a MUD that is very heavy into RP, and I even RP an evil god from time to time. It's relaxing, a release, and about as far from reality as can be, and I don't feel like it makes me evil. Good post, Blaze.
Reading Perl is like reading music. It can be a little hard to get into at first, but once you can read it, it's like food for the soul.

What the other two said. However my parents never had an issue with it when I used to RP.
Simply enough, when I explained it to them, I told them that it was like improv theatre. Which it is, to be honest. Acting out a character on the fly, much like some theatre events that you see in places such as Renn. Faires.

Imperator Severn, you say that like it's a BAD thing.
"He who lives by the sword dies by my arrow."
"In your histories, there are continual justifications for all manner of hellish actions. Claims of nobility and heritage and honor to cover up every bit of genocide, assassination, and massacre. At least the Horde is honest in their naked lust for power."

Pot and orgies? Man, I need to start playing D&D.
But yah, I used to play Magic:The Gathering with a friend during our free time in school, and alot of teachers got really upset sometimes (not about the fact we were playing, but the object of the game). Not to mention this one substitute who said "No, put it away, it's scaring me."
Some people need to lighten up and learn that they are just games. Other people need to get smart, and not attempt to do stuff they see in games.
I'm always off topic.

Chick.com is a completely out-there site. Some of the comics include a biology professor SCREAMING at a student for bringing up creationism, the occult practices of the Catholic Church, and insistence that the King James Bible is the literal word of God, ignoring the translation errors associated with anything moved from a language so far separate from semi-modern English as ancient Greek and Hebrew are. Jack Chick is an extremist nutcase, but he's free to write all the tracts he wants, even if he does present non-believers as extra-ordinarily weak-willed and violent.
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

Was I the only one who found this paragraph hilarious?Of course, just like everything else, some people (young or otherwise) will say, "Those people were just weird or losers to begin with. I'm too together to fall into stuff like that. It's just a game!" Yeah, and an H-bomb is just a firecracker! Like the people who think they can play around with crack or pre-marital sex and not get burned by death, AIDS or pregnancy, the person who thinks they can mess with D&D without getting burnt is whistling in the dark. The evidence is definitely stacked against them! The game is too carefully crafted a trap for many people to elude.
Gee, I sure like TV. And wearing pants.

Reminds me of my aunts and uncles. When they found out I played D&D, they told me I would go to hell. (I think I discussed this in a different topic.)
Aunt: "You play that devil's game. If you don't stop, you're going to hell."
Me: "Well, at least you will be there to keep me company."
A: "What?"
Me: "The Bible says it is not your place to judge. By condemning me to hell, you have sinned and will be going to hell. I expect to see you there!"
Looking back, I should have added the line:
"Will you be in smoking or non-smoking?"

I don't care who's right, who's wrong, or what you meant to say. Only thing I care about is the Truth. If you have it, good, share it. If not, find it. If you want to argue, do it with someone else.

woohoo, witch burning. We must check if she weighs as much as a duck before we start burning stuff.
Edit: Wait, I remeber these guys. These are the same Christian Alquida (or however you dirty infidels spell it
) people who published a comic about how us Muslims are actualy praying to some moon god or something really stupid.
Heres the article: http://www.chick.com/information/religi ... /allah.asp
If you dont feel like reading it, I'll just take some parts out and comment.
"The Arabs destroyed some of the wonders of the ancient world such as the world famous library in Alexandria, Egypt, They destroyed many ancient churches and synagogues. Anthropologists have recorded how the Arabs destroyed the cultural heritage of any nation which fell under their sword.
"
Thats why most churches in the Arab states that are still standing were built before the Arab conquest.
The Library of Alexandria was destroyed when Caser invaded Egypt
"But Islam denies the Holy Trinity and worships a different deity called Allah who is not a Father and who has no son."
The way us Muslims see it: If God is truly God, then he has no human charecteristics such as having children.
The Crescent Moon
"What religion today practices the pagan rites of the moon god? Islam! This explains why the crescent moon is the symbol of Islam. It is placed on top of mosques and minarets and displayed on hats, flags, rugs, amulets and even jewelry. Every time you see the Muslim symbol of a crescent moon, you are seeing the ancient symbol of the moon god."
The Cresent moon wasnt added until the 19th century by the Mamelukes
I can reign down alot more but I might as well just copy the entire article. I'm going to e-mail what I just typed. Ill post the results if theres enough demand.
