Meh, counter strike is alright i guess. The Mic should work if you just hook one up and have the latest CS installed. I know cause my friend got CS and just hooked up his mic and it worked. I dont know whats up with the one play per boot thing.

cs doesn't work well on some machines because the game is just too old. ancient games won't work that great on newer computers. putting a l33t video card in won't help cs look that much better, unless you're using the realism mod.

great game though. who cares if it's not as popular or as good as it was back in the day. i still play it everynight at a local cybercafe.

CS is nothing special certainly, however it's appeal stems from it's decent graphics, low requirements, being dirt cheap, and a different pace of play that some like. (I hate it, but that's me) Halflife runs amazingly well on a dialup connection, kudos to them on that, and since you could pick up halflife for $20 and then download counterstrike, it was a great value. I prefer tfc personally, but hey, to eash their own.

What? The core game (Half-Life) is less than six years old, and runs perfectly fine on any system from Win95B to Windows XP. Faults with the running are usually related to resources or drivers.

Aside from what the venerable MB said, older games can work fine on newer computers if you just put a bit of elbow grease into making them work.

HL is one of those games that really doesn't need any effort to get working on a newer system although there are some games that came out AFTER half-life that are a bit of trouble *cough*BlackAndWhite*. If I remember correctly, HL was one of those games that worked pretty well out of the box, with the subsequent patches only being used to add stuff to the game.

You know, I'm almost tempted to turn this into a rant about cheating accusations, but then that subject has been beaten to death many times and yes there are cheaters out there, but then lately I've come across more false accusations being directed at me rather than actual cheating incidents. Oh well.

I love hearing people say I cheat. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to know that I rock that much ass.

I would still say that i love hearing people say I cheat but one incident really turned me sour. I was playing at a server I was well known at when these two new guys started to complain about me, started to say I should be watched closer, called me a cheater. I didn't mind this initially, but when it became apparent that nothing was going to do anything about me they actually turned on their own sets of hacks (they actually admitted to it with stuff like "Out haxed HAHAHAH).

Although they finally got kicked out of the server, the new level of hypocrisy got to me.

I don't see a point in cheating at games online takes all the fun out of playing the game.

I've mentioned once before how I got kicked as a hacker from a server because the admin was a ninny, and I've seen a buddy of mine get yelled at as a hacker more times than I can count (if you see Cube Steak playing, yes, he is that good). He once went something like 42-3 on Militia, just wiping the walls with CT bodies. At one point, he was the only T left against seven or eight CTs, and managed to take out the remaining CTs while only getting hit once or twice. He's similarly deadly in Office, Seige, and often Dust, though he usually only has about a 4:1 kill ratio in Dust2.

Cube does this all the time, though. He's just amazing to watch. Pure T, though -- only plays CT when he has to, and then the T's ph34r him.

Heh, I'm pure CT, but only because I have an affinity for the Colt (Though I prefer the sig to the CT gun of the same type, it just looks prettier.), and don't like blowing cash on buying a USP.

In my own opinion Counter Strike suck and isn't that good. But it is and alright game if their isn't any cheaters playing it and, why are you playing Counter Strike when Counter Strike 2 is know out. If you won't a good Multiplayer mod get sven you will have heaps of fun.
That was the most retarded paragraph I've ever had the displeasure to read. "CS2" isn't out, in fact, the closet thing to a "CS2" is CS 1.6, which is still in beta, and is only an update to the current CS that is out now!

I love CS. I've been an avid player since beta 6 (JUMPING DEAGLE PWNAGE). I don't prefer either team, because I have to play both in CAL anyway. And, as mentioned before, CAL matches are really the most fun you can have in CS. The tactics, the BS headshots, it's so much fun. It seems like all the luck and skill in CS is pinpointed into one 35 minute match. Just beautiful ^_^.

Hey, Soth, why blow cash on a USP? Armor glockrushes are unstoppable. A 3-round glockburst to the head will not only send your opponents screen reeling, but will put his health down by 69hp.
