Stupid Protestors

Post by countrygirl » Fri Aug 08, 2003 6:34 pm

I understand that people have the protest that's what I joined the military to protect. I just don't like it when they think that protesting means that they can destroy stuff. I don't mind the ones that do it peacefully but when you break onto government property and mess with it that's crossing the line. I mean I understand that they don't agree with some of the things that I'm protecting but that doesn't give them to right to tresspass and then ruin my day off cause I have to come deal with it. The incident I'm refering to is the Nuns that broke onto a site in Colorado. I wasn't here when it happened but they got sentenced and people decided that they were going to protest it. They said that they shouldn't have been punished like they did cause they didn't do anything wrong.

Ok they broke onto the site, spread blood on the blast door and then started beating it with hammers and then waiting until a team got there. How is that not doing anything wrong. That crosses the line when it comes to protesting weapons of mass desruction. The protestors that where here last week stood outside of the fences and didn't do anything harmful to the site that i don't have a problem with. :x

Ok I think I'm done now. I feel better now That I've complained. HEH!!!!
What do you guys think? :?:

I must agree with you. Frankly, unless they set the nuns on fire, I figure they got off easy. You don't go messing with national security just because you have a chip on your shoulder.

Where the heck have you been, countrygirl? Haven't heard from you in a while.

I don't care who's right, who's wrong, or what you meant to say. Only thing I care about is the Truth. If you have it, good, share it. If not, find it. If you want to argue, do it with someone else.

There are of course also the kind of people who aren't there to protest, only to start riots. IMHO they should be shot. But that's just me I suppose...

That's a great big can of worms there, though, that could turn a small-scale riot into an effing bloodbath.

I completely agree with furre on this one.

I recently participated in a protest that had half a million people involved - most of them had very respectable roles in society, and were very educated and civilized. There were, however, those that were real trouble-makers - at one point the riot had slowed to a standstill at a paticular street since the police had completely underestimated the expect number of people participating. In their stubborness, they continued to block the protest in order to allow some traffic through this very insignificant street (only 2 cars passed per 10 minutes, and there were other possible detours). This was very bad for the lot of us, but completely reasonable since the police had screwed up.

Some of the people, however had other ideas. There was this woman (a university student, I think) who "insisted" on everyone to "break through". This started another crowd of people to start chanting and yelling to break through. I could see part of the front blocking gate start to rattle and it was obvious that something was about to happen soon... thankfully most of the crowd hushed the others down and the discontent was soon over. This was very good news for such a large crowd, but the look on the woman's face was one of the most mischevious expressions I have seen my entire life.

The point is (in case you really don't have time to read all that junk); I would categorize protest people into 3 types - the ones that know what they are doing, the ones that don't know what they are doing, and the ones that REALLY know what they are doing. Most protests are organized and led by the first type of people, thankfully ----- it's sad to say that a lot of other protestors are the 2nd and 3rd type of people.

*sigh* people like that really piss me off. If you're protesting violence, why break things and run over property? It just doesn't make any sense... Practice whatcha preach, people.

Go and get your riot gear
Swing your girlie all around
We'll be dancing on the cinders
as the town is burning down

/me walks away, whistling.

Eh, people are hypocrites.

Wasn't there a doctor killed a while back by pro-lifers because he worked in an abortion clinic? Or is my vague understanding of world events fibbing to me again?

Freedom of assembly. This means PEACEFUL. It's not freedom of mob.

They ARE doing wrong, they ARE breaking the law, and they SHOULD and WILL be punished.

They did get punished. Like they should have and I really don't know why people were complaining cause they could have gotten 30 years and instead they only got like 4 to 6 years.

peace protesters are the worst, they say they don't want violence, but you call one of them a sissy and heads are flying

They're more violent than we are most of the time and we're the ones that are taught to be violent.
