well.....P4 3.0GHz (800 FSB) are good, and the Ati Radeon9800 pro is the best video card these days.....PC3200 DDR memory is good and a M/B from Abit would be good also.....

what sort of price range do you have?
It's a 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a packet of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it.

My price range is like $10 000 up to $15 000. So what I've got more money then brains, but the computer will make up for that.

I'd suggest reading reviews & forums (I suggest http://www.overclockers.com & it's forums). Get real-world feedback on different hardware.

My personal suggestions:
AMD/Intel - your prefference
Mobo - Asus, Abit, Epox, MSI are good choices, Epox getting a lot of great reviews lately
Vid card - ATI
RAM - Corsair XMS is great brand
Hard drive - Maxtor or Seagate - WD are popular, but I don't trust 'em
Sound - M-AUDIO"Revolution" RTL (or better model if you want studio quality) or Hercules GameSurround Fortissimo III 7.1

AMD/Intel - Either is good, depends on how much you wanna spend. Since you obviously have money you should probably go with Intel (I'm assuming the VapoChill comes with a P4 mounting system?)
Mobo - If you want the best, go Asus.
Video - If you have money, you might wanna think about the Geforce FX 5900. Its just a tiny bit faster than the 9800, but was proven to have better image quality.
Ram - corsair is great memory.
HDD - I'm a big fan of western digital, as I've never had one die on me. I have had a seagate, 2 maxtors, and about 8 samsug drives dead on computers I have worked on.
Sound - Ain't nothin better than the Creative Audigy2 platinum.
CD-RW - I'm going to assume you want DVD-RW or something of the like, but plextor makes the best CD-RW drives. I haven't really kept up on DVD-RW drives, so someone else will have to pick up there.
For NIC go intel or linksys, or the one built into the mobo.

Edit: Please send money to Teranfirbt, 28....
I really need a new sig....

I've had a lot of luck with Gigabyte boards lately, they've pretty reliable and they're cool. I picked up one of thier nforce2 boards, dual bios, 8x agp, dual channel ddr, 2 ide ports, 2 raid ports, and two serial ata ports, 6.1 channel stereo sound, firewire, usb, onboard lan, and color coded case hook-ups so you don't have to mess with hooking up your power button wrong.

If you've money to burn you outta get one of those Matrox Parhelia cards. They're not the fastest, but one would let you run three monitors, and spread your game across all three. Quake 3 looks amazing with peripheral vision.

And sounds like a 747 taking off when in a game.

Both Sony and Panasonic are now making DVD+R/RW/-R/RW drives that will read and write all of the current media formats, and can be had for less than $300. They're both fast, and both reliable. Go with one of those (or two, for your money) and you can stay on top of the optical media curve for a couple of years.
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

If hes got the money he might as well get a water cooling setup for his video...

i have also burnt out several hard drives, and i have yet to burn out a western digital

i say go for the western digital caviar special edition series. they are fast, have 8 meg cache and at 7200 rpm's you cant beat it. they are also willing to put a 3 year warrenty on the thing where most only put a 1 year, so i think they are pretty confident in that product :)

and yea, if you've got the money, might as well go dual p4 3ghz 800 mb FSB and liquid cool the thing. from the value you posted it seems lika ya want the best :)

MB wise, i say go ASUS all the way, just a kinda cool function is the talking bios, when you turn it on it says very loudly "Power on check complete"

The point is that 15K RPM drives scream. Access times of as low as 3.7ms for read times (deducting rotational latency) make for incredibly fast access.

I wouldnt buy a FX5900, they are slower and dont have very good image quality, the Radeon9800pro is the best you can get.....

not to mention the ultra320 bandwidth - 320mb/s and I do believe ide is topping out at 150mb/s - Anyhoo, those are server grade drives as well, typically with warranties of 5 years+ Good stuffs to have.

Intel is definitely the way to go. As for the Radeon 9800, why not give the GeforceFX 5900 Ultra a try. Not as loud as some of the earlier FX series, and there is no real winner yet for top performance between ATI and Nvidia.
