Tom Morello is not one of the greatest guitar
players ever.
His best stuff really isnt all that complex.
But, however, his true talent lies in writing very simple solos and riffs that sound
awesome. That's all I have to say.
He's not a Steve Vai in terms of guitar skill, but his writing blows Vai's away.
But not Jeff Beck's.

I dont think that Tom Morello is a god but he is an excellent guitar player. I think that his funk influenced guitar lines revolutionized the way people looked at a typical hard rock/metal band. I do think that he has a great infulence on the industry but I think he sold his soul when he started playing music for Cornell rather than himself.

I can live with that. I'll admit, he's not the best player of all time, but he's definately one of the best ones in the music scene today.
But then again, a lot of Jimi Hendrix's best stuff isn't extremely hard. I guess writing and playing kind of get meshed together when it comes to how good a guitar player is.

Morello's talents lie in how inventive he is, he gets whole solos out of switching pickups with one hand and pressing a wah peddle with his foot.
And they sounds *fucking* great.
(and far better still when live)
Live, he takes centre stage (figurativly...) in every song, its like an old school Zeppelin gig in many ways.
"Face it, you're two nipples away from being human."
Did you imagine the final sound as a gun? Or the shattered windows of a car? Did you ever imagine the last thing you'd hear as you're fading out was a song?

no particular order:
Metallica - ...And Justice For All
Tool - Opiate
APC - Mer de Noms
Led Zepplin - IV
Sublime - Sublime
Other Runner-Ups
Ben Folds Five - Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messier
Tool - Aenima/Lateralus/Undertow
Metallica - anything pre load
TMBG - anything (to be honest the only reason they aren't in the top five is because I couldn't decide on one album...and "Then, The Early Days" feels like cheating)
Jimi Hendrix - see above
Sublime - see above
and I'm sure there are others I have forgotten
and I am shocked/apalled that Led Zep didn't even make it in the first 75 or so posts/lists!

Yes. I was referring to his actual playing ability, which isn't much to write home about.
He is undeniably skilled at "Teh PEDAL!" as my friend Robyn joked, though.

1) The Beatles (you can say all of their albums are tied for first)
2) Audioslave - Audioslave
3) Jonny Lang - Long Time Coming
4) The Distorted Penguins - Magic
5) AFI - Sing the Sorrow
Not all that much different than my last list, but you'll notice #3 has changed. Jonny Lang kicks a lot of ass.
