I often hear people get in heated arguments over this, so I figured i'd see what people thought on these here forums.
(note, if you can't take the parenthases as the jokes they are, I feel truly sorry for you)
Don't be so humble. You are not that great.

Unlike other, more potent drugs (crack, meth, etc.), Marijuana is relatively fine for you (in my experience) so long as you treat it like you would drinking alcohol. Moderation is the key. I'm all for legalizing it, taxing the hell out of it, and making it illegal to be high on it while on the job and whatnot, it would certainly destroy the counter-culture thats sprung up around it, and that alone would be a huge step towards making me a happier Soth.

I don't care whether people do any drugs, they can do what they want, as long as it does not effect me, ie 2nd hand smoking and drunk driving.

So then you're pro-legalization of consensual crimes ChronoSword.

Why would you make it illegal to be high on the job? Each company should have their own say about it. If you work for heavy equipment manufacturers, then they're going to probably say that if you come to work high, just like coming to work drunk, then you're fired. Or if you work for some graphic design company, and everyone smokes, why would you tell them they can't enjoy a legal substance at work? Outlaw smoking cigarettes outside, next? Outlaw donuts, soft drinks, and coffee, now?

It should be illegal for people with certain occupations to be under the influence: drivers, pilots, law enforcement, and doctors, among other things. Most companies already ban one legal substance while banning others -- you can smoke, but you can't drink. The precedent is there.
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

I must agree with ChronoSword on his opinion of marijuana. If others wish to use it, they won't get any flak from me.

In my case, however, I cannot be around marijuana smoke. Whatever 'high' it gives others doesn't work with my biochemistry. I must be, naturally, a very very angry person because instead of mellowing me out, I become nearly homicidal over trivial things when I have been around marijuana smokers before. Needless to say, my friends have come to understand this and do not smoke around me.

I feel no loss of their company while they smoke, and I believe one has lost all of the energy and drive they used to have in their life due to the drugs they smoke, so I will not endorse the smoking of marijuana, but I cannot say they cannot smoke it, I will say they should not smoke it unless they feel it is necessary.

It's against the law, so it's not "OK" in that sense.

Morally, I don't see any real problem unless you're using it to hide from your problems. If you're just partying with friends, it's your choice.

Personally, i will never take marijuana or any illegal drug (Or tobacco, for that matter.) I don't like the idea of a substance that changes my brain and fills my lungs with soot. If I want to be in bad health, I'll sit in front o the AC and eat Ice Cream.

Which is another parallel between Mary-Jane and alcohol. There tends to be a difference between the person who takes shots of gin with friends and the person who cradles the bottle when they are alone.

Exactly. When you're just loosening up and having fun, there's little harm. But when you're covering up sadness, you're really hurting yourself worse.

Soth is right. :O

If we made it legal, alot of the crime and the cultures based around it would be removed.
