Startin shit

Post by Imperator Severn » Thu Aug 21, 2003 2:13 am

I hate Old Navy commercials. They must be stopped.

So, time for a brainstorming session. So far, all I can think of is the fact that they never have hispanic people in their commercials. This may or may not be true, but I think it has a chance. DOes anyone have Jesse Jackson's e-mail?

I fear Jesse Jackson. Anyway, since there are no hispanic people in the commercials, is there anything like the Million Man March for hispanics? May be able to start a riot...

Really, Severn, shouldn't this thread be called "Stopping Shit"? :)

Hmm... ways to stop Old Navy... /me plots

I don't know WTF kind of marketing strategy Old Navy is going for with those commercials, but it's not working. Maybe they're trying to maximize the gayness and lameness factors so people will say "It's so lame, it's cool". Add to that the fact the clothes are probably being made cheap in sweatshops, and all of a sudden Old Navy is starting to look like the antichrist. All I know is those people sure have some weird-looking smiles.

Seriously, SOMEBODY needs to do a hostile takeover of those commercials and try to change Old Navy's image before it's too late.

Oooh, I just love my new cargo pants. Mix it up, Magic!

The newest one has an All-white family except a black boy, how is that? Sure, he could of been adopted, but the style of the commercial would point to a time where that would have been taboo, well, it still kinda is but not as much. It seems that they have to have a token black kid in it (Not saying im a bigot). But a commercial with a racial quota, come on.

You don't get it actually, Chrono.

In that day, things like that were pretty common on some lighthearted TV shows. They would never bring up HOW that little black boy came to be there. It was just sort of a gimic.

At least I believe so.

Chrono, you just don't get it. I hate that racial shit, but Old Navy is more immediately annoying and stoppable. It's like using Stalin to defeat Hitler.

Old Navy stole 'Soul Train' from me. Seriously. I KNEW there was a reason I never liked that new fella who started hosting the show, and now I know why. He sold the 'Soul Train' image so Old Navy could do various 'Cargo Train' commercials to sell their cargo pants.

They've stolen the joy those early morning asian\black dancin' girls once gave to me, along with the joys of afro-centric word jumbles. And for that...Old Navy must pay.

Bullshit. I skateboard, and every pair of pants I have own many falls. They have no tears. The Old Navy ones tore on the first fall. They just can't take any sort of abuse.

I have not even walked into an Old Navy store since they began this ad campaign a few years ago. I will frantically reach for the remote to change the channel whenever one comes on (Jez can confirm this). I refuse to shop there until they change their ad campaign.
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.
