How much space?

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

How much space?

Post by EvilElf » Fri Aug 29, 2003 8:41 pm

I was wondering how much space does the entire site take up on the server?
Also what people thought how much space it took up comics and all.
I think around maybe 100 - 200megs. >.>

I went to a random archive page with 4 panels. Each number was rounded to the nearest whole number, and usually rounded down! I multiplied what I got from that page by 1011 to get 186.024 megabytes. Without the characters, spiels, links, forums, stuff, store, and advertisers page. So about 200 megabytes.

Comic: 65 kilobytes

the two Previous signs, the two Next signs, the Today sign, and the First Comic sign: 6 kilobytes

the 10 Menu signs (the Archives, Characters, Spiels, etc. signs all appear to be the same linked image with text over them): 90 kilobytes total

that Logo in the corner: 8 kilobytes

News sign: 6 kilobytes

Random Banner: x kilobytes (size not available)

Page itself: 9 kilobytes

Total of... 184k+x.

http://www.reallifecomics.com/daily.php?strip_id=1010 is the not-so-random-just-used-previous-button page.

I doubt the actual size of the website makes much of a difference...its more the bandwith used from having so many people access the website that is the part to worry about.

Yeah, bandwidth is a real killer. my own site, the forums, images, a webgame I have in development, its forums and site/images take up less than 40MB. But I wouldnt be surprised if I use up all my bandwidth once my webgame and webcomic take off. :|
