Yep Mav, looking at their site they sure have their walk set up as a publicity stunt. I mean, considering how many hard core hikers there are in the US it isn't actually that big a deal... but they’ll take donations from Paypal, and they have lots of sponsors, etc… I agree that reading about their journey might not be all that interesting. Depends how good they are at writing and noticing the little things.

I thought about doing something like that before.
Hey, maybe I will!

Hey, my vote is in the "this rocks" column. I don't much care for the site, but just the experience. I live in Central Illinois and I can't tell you how often, before I got married and stuff, I wanted to just get up and walk or ride my bike to San Francisco. I just never had the guts or crazy companions to do it. I knew an old hippie a few years back who hitched around the country for seven years staying at different communes and meeting people...It's all about the journey....One day...maybe...I guess when the kids are older...

Don't think I could do the walking, but I would do a roadtrip (and plan to net summer) from SC to texas to oregon, seattle, then back to sc

I'm with Satsuki on this one. It is a shame that any idiot with a lame-brained idea can get a corporate sponsorship these days.

Gah, if only I lived in California. The irony of being hit by a semi after hiking halfway across a continent...
