drugs and doctors
drugs and doctors
im pissed off whenever i go to the doctors office.
why? i never see the same person first off.
and cause the doctor always takes forever then has the nerve to ask me ... "do you smoke?" then i say no ... he says "do you plan to?"
what???
how did that have anything to do with my having a chemical burn in my eye?
well .... whenever i am asked this question i say no. it is a lie.
i do smoke ... just not ciggs.
i dont wanna tell him/her cause i am not geting caught for telling my doctor that i get faded.
would he tell anyone?
i know "it is bad for me" and i have minor problems with my lungs ... i cant seek any medical advice cause of drug after math without giving myself up now can i?
i guess i should just keep it to myself.
do you know who he tells ... if so let me know.

as far as i know, (and im in australia, so..) its a patient/doctor confidentiality thing. he/she can't tell anyone anything about your health issues, or anything you discuss with him unless you give him premission too...
i've told my doctor everything i've taken, smoked, drank, etc etc etc, it helps him when he prescribes me medicine etc.. he cant tell your parents if your over the age of 16 (remeber this is only in australia, im not sure about america, or wherever you are.. but i dont think it would be that much different..)
the only time he can tell anyone anything, is if you say you are going to kill yourself or someone else, then he has the obligation to tell the police, your parents, whoever it is necessary to inform to keep you or the other person safe.
If you do tell him what kinds of drugs, you are taking, if any, the most they usually do, is do a check up and makes sure theres no immediate risk to you.. and might talk to you about ways you can quit, if you want too.
i'd look into it for where you live, because not every countries laws are the same, (obviously) but i hope this helps a little, and i think it would be a good diea to let your doctor know what drugs you are having and how often you do it.. it's just safer when he prescribes you medciation, because you never know what may react wrongly with the substances you use.
anyway, jsut dont go overboard with your drug use, theres nothing worse then letting it consume you life, if its a social thing, keep it that way.
hope everything goes well.
Kirstie.

yup, i think its world wide, its illegal to tell about anything you say in confidence.. just make the point CLEAR, like "ill tell you this in conficence, but i get high and blah blah"..
covers your bases.. also, in australia, in canberra, if you have altzheimers, you can get perscribed to take cannibis coz of its theropudic powers. (mellows you out).. still, it IS bad for you.. try smoking with filters

Doctor-patient confidentiality likely does apply here. If so, they cannot report you because doing so violates that confidentiality and could cost the doctor his license. What you can do is ask to what extent the confidentiality applies were someone to talk to their doctor.
Now, that said, the confidentiality does not stop the doctor from lecturing you, so be prepared for that. However, since marijuana use has been linked to lung cancer (you're smoking unfiltered smoke there, meaning large particulates of ugly stuff), and you've mentioned that you already have problems, the best thing for you to do is to let the doctor know so you can be treated properly, and most importantly so that he can try to avoid any serious side effects from mixing your habits with any medication prescribed.

If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.
