That's just the tip. One of the things that I would like to do is find information on:
 • how many people are in various prisons for simple marijuana possession or use, both solely and resulting in extended sentences
 • their prison terms
 • how long their court cases took
 • the time involved for the police bookings
 • various grades of marijuana on a state-by-state basis
 • the portion of the DEA's budget that is devoted to marijuana interdiction
 • the crimes that are related solely or nearly completely due to the illicit marijuana trade
I'd then compile all of that information into a nice report, and see what the effects would be.
I wrote a small paper on California's three strikes law once. I'll see if I can dig up the statistics. One very striking aspect was that many of the people convicted on a third strike were charged with drug possession, and this included a fair amount of marijuana possession. Also, the Economist did a big special report on legalizing drugs back in 2001 (either Spring or Summer). It was interesting.
Blaze wrote:I'm not under a rock. I know it gets done a lot. I just suppose I didn't want to think how widespread it was. My uncle got $75,000 in debt with his drug habits. I now spend my days hoping that doesn't happen to anybody else.
I hope you didn't think I was trying to make fun of you; just saw the potential for a really lame joke! :D If it makes you feel any better, I have never used marijuana. And the legality of it hasn't been the issue; I've just never had the urge. *shrug*
sheesh Martin, I think your title should be expanded to:

"Knower of things and Super-Liberal of DOOM!!"

seriouisly though, keep it up!
You really should drop by the Politics forum. Your head will probably explode from the contradictions you see. I am not a liberal, nor am I a conservative, but I take points from both sides. Whatever makes sense.
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

I did not pick the title. It was crafted by billf. As for your thoughts that I am a liberal, keep in mind that I am:
 • Suspicious of unions
 • Don't like pensions
 • Against most taxes
 • Against oppressive regulation of business
 • In favor of overhauling Social Security by routing it through the stock market
 • In favor of MediCare reform
 • In favor of an aggressive foreign policy
 • In favor of far fewer gun restrictions
Then again, I'm also:
 • Pro-choice
 • Pro-privacy
 • In favor of gay marriage
 • Supportive of limited welfare safety nets
 • Supportive of background checks on all gun purchases
So go figure.

I don't care who's right, who's wrong, or what you meant to say. Only thing I care about is the Truth. If you have it, good, share it. If not, find it. If you want to argue, do it with someone else.

Maybe he's against
, too. That would mean he should change his ideological stamp to "anarchist." :)

Bite.

I'm so used to dissecting people's arguments that '/' is almost always followed by 'quote'.

If I were to say Martin was close to any title politically I would say that he is a borderline libertarian. You should really watch branding people conservative or liberal or any such titles as some people might have gotten really upset and tried to seperate your head from your neck. Martin, being the nice guy he is, didn't choose that route...I happen to share many of the views that he has so far stated and if you called me a liberal I would probably smack you...

After finishing, they will be taken to a "chill-out room," where they can receive counseling and peer referrals.

....what a bummer to spend your high being in counseling...
