the p4 ee is nothing more than a Xeon riding an 800mhz bus. i

ts fast but it is in no way a new cpu. in fact an athlon fx running totally in its crippled 32 bit compatability mode manages to keep up with it pretty well to say nothing of how it will perform once its in a native happy 64 bit environment

EznocDOTcom,
An Athlon XP3200+ Retail (with hsf) is $448 from 'GameVE'
A P4 3.0C Retail is $386.. The 3.0C outperforms the XP3200+.. No arguing this.
okay first off there is no caomparison in pricing since the 3200+ is thge top-of-the line chip for AMD and the 3.0C is not, therefore there is a LARGE price drop-off (never EVER get the top of the line chip unless you have pockets the size of the grand canyon, the next lower model is almost always at least $100 cheaper)

secondly, the clock speeds do not compare,, however the AMD chips keep up with higher clocked intel chips, and thus are named to show what speed on an intel they would compete with, (granted the numbering is not exact, so performances will differ)so please try to avoid skewing numbers, we are not all idiots :shifty:

PS: on pricewatch an AMD 3200+ is $436 while a P4 3.2 is $576, comparable pricing, eh?
PPS: an AMD 64 3200 is less expensive than the P4 3.2 BY $100!

I believe I said ATHLON FX64 (i was estimating it's price, btw) .. The athlon FX/64-51 is $966..

I was *NOT* refering to the Amd64 3200+

Who cares about clock speed. I'm talking about performance.

So.. lets try this again

(32 bit) Athlon XP 3200+ (which does NOT perform as well as a P4 3.0C) = $448
(32 bit) P4 3.0C = $386 (this chip is FASTER than the XP 3200+)
(32 bit) P4 3.2C = ~$600

Athlon FX64-51 = $966
Performs marginally better than the P4 3.2
