The Matrix Reloaded
I was totally obsessed with the first matrix, but reloaded just didn't go over well with me.
I watched it again last night, then I came home and watched the matrix, trying to figure out what it was that bothered me so much about the movie. So I wrote a list and posted it here
***SPOILERS BELOW***
1. The matrix is missing the greenish tint, and it's unreal feel.
The tint still sort of there, but it looks like a generally brighter world.. Kinda of like the fast and furious trailers I've seen. And it's missing the right camera angles, such as: From the top of a building, seeming like the rain is falling upside down, Top of the stairs, the mirror of trinity's motor cycle, looking up at the bullets falling down from the helicopter.
2. Not enough gun fights.
Anytime we see people fight, it's either neo with super powers.. or morpheus with his sword. Where are the guns? Don't they use them anymore? If there was a gun fight, I missed it.. but it wasn't nearly as cool as the last movie(Not counting Trinity's "death")
3. I think they made Neo too powerful.
Come on.. he can do whatever he wants in the matrix? I lose intrest if a hero seems too powerful. He should be able to "bend the rules" of the matrix, but not break them.
4. They only show one scene to give us the idea that getting to an exit is still not easy.
5. Agents seem to be no longer a threat to anyone.
I know neo is there and he's a god now or whatever, but he can't protect EVERYONE from agents. What about the others? I mean, there are still agents, they're probaly even better than the last three.
6. Too much CGI.
Just about every fight scene had CGI. The last movie had it too.. but it just wasn't as obvious.
The smith fight.. It looked like a video game, why couldn't they have done that neat spining around neo camera thing like in the last movie?
7. The real world
It seemed too happy, and not as grimy/rundown as the world in the first one. Everyone seems so happy there, and it had a star wars feel, IMO. Not fitting for the movie.
8. Too much latex.
I get the idea that guys like women in latex, and stuff.. but do you know how hard that stuff is to move in?? Trinity's outfit was much cooler in the first one.
9. The Fights
They seemed more like a dance, it was far too obvious that they had practiced the fighting.
10. Not enough reflection!
The last movie seemed to use alot of reflections in the matrix, especially on sunglasses. It was there a little bit, but I wanted mooorre.
11. Parts of the plot.
The weird stuff about there being vampire and warewolfs and all that.. it wasn't needed. The matrix felt like they had jacked into some video game, instead of a world that was supposed to convince people it was 2000.

Its been quite some time since I saw reloaded...I didn't like it anywhere near as much as I liked the original. It seemed to try too hard to appeal to the masses. I feel it was lacking the dark subculture feeling in the first movie. The cinematography and dialogue of the first movie seemed far superior. I don't know...and I hated the orgiastic dance scene with the Neo/Trinity scene...It just seemed dumb. I do plan on seeing it again some time soon to give it some more though. I often need several viewings of a film to come to enjoy it. I tend to be pretty critical when I watch movies....

Sorry, wasn't aware there was an entertainment forum here. and I figured the general forum was the best place >_< *feels like an idot*
I seen it again, just to figure out what was wrong with it.. I don't often do that with movies, but like I said before I was totally obsessed with the first one.
yeah.. the movie did seem like it "sold out".. and I hated alot of the dialogue. and what was WITH that dance thing? Since when was zion a giant orgy city?? lolts been quite some time since I saw reloaded...I didn't like it anywhere near as much as I liked the original. Yeah, but the martix reloaded had alot of hypee to live up too, so they went,
"What made the first movie soooo good?"
"Kung-Fu Fights, Cool SFX, and finding out that neo can do anything in the matrix."
And so it was done.

Esvoiel Would like to take the time to appoligise for whatever he just said in his post.
And I still think Reloaded was the best sequel to a movie ever made. In my mind it competed on actually being better than the first, but I was never sure of that. None the less, when someone says they didn't like it, I generally just assume they missed a point of the movie and are retarded.
Especially when someone says the first movie had good dialogue - considering that was one of the biggest mockeries made on the first movie.

ya know...first, as I pointed out, I plan on watching it again (probably several times) as I like to give movies a fighting chance before I brand them as crap which I wouldn't do in this case anyways...Its not that it was crap, I was just dissapointed...
As for my comment on dialogue...I know it had its bad moments (I know kung-fu....whoa...etc) but it also had many wonderfully created bits mostly centering around morpheus (nature of the matrix, invitation to take the pills, etc) but also between other characters (trinity and neo in the club). I just enjoyed its general ambiance much better than reloaded...
Again, I plan on seeing reloaded again and my views may change...I walked into the theatre with preconcived notions of what the sequel should feel like. I'll watch it again sometime on DVD or something when my initial dissapointment and assumptions have worn off and may genuinly come to appreciate it as its own entity...Its happened before...Then again, I may still be dissapointed...
I take my movies very seriously...sometimes too seriously...

Reloaded seriously rocked. It wasn't as good as the original Matrix, but the two are completely different.
It seemed a lot more professionally done, too. The orignal Matrix was gambling on being a hit. Reloaded was sure of mass popularity, and could afford to blow a lot more on effects.
Oh, and the motorway scene was just amazing. Gunfights from cars, mass destruction of cars, and the leaping between cars made the movie.

I didn't like it because it seemed, well, it's hard to say what it seemed. It seemed less like a sequel and more of just a movie with the same characters and a roughly similar setting. Basically, they took the story from the Matrix, wiped there asses with it and ate it, then killed the people who wrote it and edited it, then hired a bunch of marijuana smoking 25 year olds to write the next one. It added in a lot of things that were entirely unnescessary(SP?). Like the big sex dance party, and all that jive. Then the fight with all the Smith's was stupid. The fact that they brought back Smith is a horrible idea. I agree, it needed more gunfights. The main thing I am angry about is the plot. They just didn't seem to know what to do with the story until the end of it. Up till then it just seemed random and pointless. And then the stupid scene withn the monitors and the programmer was just, bleh.
"Maybe that's just me, maybe I'm crazy."
