Lazy avid exercisers

Yay... a chance to rant about all of the stupid stuff that goes on at my apartment complex. The complex itself rests on about 3 acres consisting of small buildings, each with 6 units. It's a nice place.. good landscaping.. set in a good neighborhood. Most folks there are.... well... to put it in my own biased way, they're spoiled rich kids. They zip around in BMWs or bigass SUVs that daddy bought them. It's hardly likely they pay their rent themselves. They live there like it's a dorm, or like they're patterning their lives after 90210 and crap... the pool becomes a meat market once the bars close.

But.. here's my rant of choice for the moment... as I said, the complex is about 3 acres... not quite that large, but probably larger than 2. As it stands, it's about a 1-minute walk from any apartment to the clubhouse. There is a fitness center in the clubhouse. I have seen people come out of their apartments and DRIVE THEIR CARS over to the clubhouse.. go into the fitness center.. and get on THE FREAKING TREADMILL!

So... lemme get this straight... walking 500 feet from your home to another building is such work that you need to drive your car there... but yet walking 30 minutes on a little belt that goes nowhere is recreation and fitness? Where the hell is the logic in that??? I would think that extra little bit of walking would be welcome.. it'd help get you warmed up and burn a couple of extra calories. But apparently, it's this huuuuuuuuuge chore that makes the invention of the automobile an absolute godsend. And we're not talking about some elderly person that needs the cushioning of the treadmill to walk comfortably.. we're talking about early 20-something people.

Is it just me, or is that seriously fubared?

I'll also put up a  for that situation. They probably want to show off their car daddy bought them.

That's my wife's theory... that they're just tooling along in their little roller skates to show them off.

Unfortunately, they're also proof that paying a higher rent doesn't make you value the place any more.... further observations I use to support the notion that few of them pay their own rent. It's another pet peeve of mine that people treat apartments like some kind of halfway house.. not a home to take pride in. These brats trash the grounds like they were just visiting for the night, rather than thinking something like "This is where I live.. I should actually walk the 30 feet to a trash can so where I live can stay looking nice."

I've only lived there 3 months, and already my upstairs and downstairs neighbors dislike me..... see, my wife and I have this crazy aversion to someone else's stereo being so loud it rattles the lamps in our apartment. Crazy us.

Fortunately, it shouldn't be too long before we can get a house.

Kind of what I always notice about how people drive around for 10 minutes to find a closer parking spot to the fitness center and then go in and get on a tredmill.

And that second part is kinda like how in the court yard of my dorm, people cut across the grass (normally only one enterance but part is now removed due to construction) to cut about 10 feet off their walk. This has led to a nice brown path across the grass and it is only a month into the school year.

Regarding the parking, what I always find amusing is these people that will sit forever behind someone loading stuff into their car to wait for their parking spot so they can be close to the entrance. The kicker is that in the time I've seen them waiting, parked out in the boonies (I do it for ease of parking and the little bit of extra exercise), and walked to the store, I find them still waiting. Not exactly the big time-saver they were hoping for.

One thing I used to do to screw with people that will follow you as you walk to your car, hoping for a close space, is to walk to a really close SUV or van while pulling out my keys like it's mine. Using the size of the vehicle as cover, I steal away to the other side of aisle and head toward my own car. I've actually driven by people waiting behind the vehicle I ducked behind, honking at it like they're waiting for it to pull out.

i enjoy walking to the car at the mall, putting packages into it, then going back in the mall to see a movie or something. That really upsets the parking vultures. Thankfully my apt complex did not really rent the the "college age" sort. I did have neighbors below me who loved to make things shake with the stereo, when they were not beating eachother or the kids. After a few calls to the cops, and chats with management they were eviced. I think the day the apt manager came over to ask them to turn it down, in response to my complaint, and the woman slamed the door in the apt manager's face, pretty much did it.

I just despise joggers. They move at just over walking pace, totally oblivious to people on bikes trying to get past them.
On a sand footpath.
Next to a river, with stinging nettles on the other side.

Somehow, they can't HEAR a cyclist coming up behind them at full speed, with a CD player blasting heavy metal through headphones at full volume.
Then they slow down, and s l o w l y move to the side.
Then, because I can't change down through the gears fast enough before having to stop, they then get angry as I pull away slowly in high gear.
If I hit a puddle and cover them in mud, they deserve it.
