I believe that lawsuits are being abused by some people. And the judges are letting it happen. Not cool. The judge *I* would want on the bench would listen to some of these lawsuits' opening remarks, sit there giggling for a second, and then bang his gavel and say "STFU n00b! Case dismissed."
So, to respond to the injustice of frivolous lawsuits, I am suing the Lawyers of America for one bajillion dollars, on behalf of the American people!
about dress code... in all the schools I've been in, it's:
1. no extremely revealing clothing (no bare shoulders, stomachs, thighs etc.)
2. no swear words or pornographic images on clothing
3. no advertising drugs or booze on clothing
I don't think that's too much to ask of students. Uniforms aren't cool, though.

In and around Oregon's high schools (Of which I attended four.), there was a rule forbidding red and white shoelaces (i.e., the mix of them, not independent of one another.) due to it having racist connotations.

Yeah, that basically describes the dress code here. Nothing too offensive or anything. I was just ticked that teachers are so clueless that they miss things that fall under the dress code.Shyknight wrote:about dress code... in all the schools I've been in, it's:

Girls in our school are the worst. They've been wearing sweatshirts in fucking 80 DEGREE WEATHER, just because if they don't, their fucking bra-shirts will get them in trouble.

Hmmm.... I am so glad I go to a private college. Very few restrictions on attire.
Does anyone know where I can get a really big pair of pink bunny slippers? I want to wear them to work one day. Our dress code at work is rather strict, but they make no comment about what kind of shoes to wear other than "no athletic shoes". Bunny slippers, therefore, should be acceptable.
I have had a hell of a time finding a pair of pink bunny slippers large enough for my feet.

I don't care who's right, who's wrong, or what you meant to say. Only thing I care about is the Truth. If you have it, good, share it. If not, find it. If you want to argue, do it with someone else.
Check out these sites for Have a Nice Day Cafes. It's a bar with a dress code.
http://www.haveanicedaybaltimore.com/
http://www.cafecincy.com/
I couldnt' find the page for it, but the cafe here in St. Louis has additional restrictions. One of the restrictions here is actually no t-shirts.
I can understand a dress code to deter folks from wearing gang clothes (i.e., no bandanas), and for keeping a certain level of style amont their clientelle.. but banning t-shirts, even simple, good quality, plain ones, just seems excessive. I know more upscale cafes have dress codes.. but Have a Nice Day Cafes are just another in the long line of party joints.
Sure, they're welcome to stipulate what they want.. but banning t-shirts just sounds kind of like "If you're not preppified, we don't want your money." to me.

I only wear T shirts when I am working outside or repairing something around the house. I am DEFINITELY not a preppy. I have simply decided I want to dress more nicely (polo or button-up shirt, khakis or slacks, black leather jacket) than I used to (Blue jeans, T-shirt, black leather jacket).
(Yes, I keep my black leather jacket. That thing has taken several knife hits for me, it and I have a bond now.)

I go by the logic that if the dresscode doesen't conform to my jeans, plain T-shirt, boots and chains, I'm probably not gonna like it in there anyway.the cafe here in St. Louis has additional restrictions. One of the restrictions here is actually no t-shirts.

Exactly. I didn't mean to imply polo shirts immediatly mean preppies. I have several. I generally wear t-shirts on the weekends, though, as I have no neck and shoulders like a linebacker. I prefer t-shirts as they accentuate what little neck I have, accentuate my broad chest, and play up the girth of my upper arms. I also leave them untucked with shorts, as I have a high waist. If I tuck them in, I look like my grandfather.
What I meant to bring into question was what such a dress code says about the bar itself. Not to mention that seems like shooting yourself in the foot, some. What if I was in a very nice, clean, t-shirt and slacks and decided "Hmmm.. think I'll give this place a try." Their dress code is so stringent it's not receptive to people just deciding to go there on a whim. Hence, their no t-shirt code probably screws them out of a modest amount of money. It also presents the impression of saying "Blue collars not wanted."

I don't mind the dress code where I work, and actually, with the exception of a few very low cut shirts and high cut skirts, there's very little I cant wear to work.
Black shirt and khaki pants. Or, something dressier. Which pretty much just means no jeans or shirts with words or images on them. And, of course, our name tag. Which is gold and shiny, and actually has my name ENGRAVED on it, rather than just sticky taped to it.

I believe I ranted about this once, however the topic died quicky. I have that effect on things... *touches the post above this one and watches the ink melt*
Our school's students must have all shirts tucked in...ugh. What I hate most is when you bend over, it (nearly) becomes undone, and each time you sit down or stand up, it becomes slightly looser.

In gravity's HS, there was your basic dress code.
No tube tops, nothing too revealing (In Seattle, whoever broke that one had to deal with their own issues as they suffered from exposure!
) No backless shoes, etc.
There was a funny rule in the shoes section: Wear Thongs at Your Own Risk.
Everyone knows how the student body took THAT!
But, gravity's senior year, they had to change the dress code. The Vice Principal kept breaking it, by wearing short skirts and tube tops. Not the most pleasent of images.
Her nickname was Fabio for a reason, and she wore stilleto's.
Gravity wonders how many people hired her out after the friday night football games.

Gravity, you have successfully put the most horrible image of my junior high vice principal. She's one of those oldish women who doesn't have an accent but you'd swear she's from East Germany. Her name was, and I swear to whatever god you want, Shirley Fingerman. Yeah.
In the end though, it's really the bees that get Sam.

This may just be me but what is racist about that?
/me is confused.
Also never saw that in the dress code for school.... also don't see people wearing anything but white or black shoe laces. ._.
