MSN Chat rant
Ah... the fools of the world have united. Apparently Microsoft has decided not to allow chat rooms any more outside the US (more or less) and the 'experts' of the world are saying that it will cause a further digital divide....
AS IF MSN WAS ALMOST THE ONLY CHAT USED IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!
'Experts' my ass. If these people had a half a brain they would realize there was chat before MSN and there will be chat AFTER MSN HAS DIED. Digital divide? MSN only made it easy for fools to enter chat rooms, fools who really had little place to be in a chat room in the first place. For anyone with a lick of sense, there are other chat programs available. Hell, I remember live-chatting over the computer back in 1991, before most of people who frequent this forum had even gone through PUBERTY (no offense to y'all, I am just that old).
Ok, just had to get this rant off my chest. These morons act like Microsoft runs the world. It does not. It just makes the virtual world easier to reach for people who do not know any better.

I don't care who's right, who's wrong, or what you meant to say. Only thing I care about is the Truth. If you have it, good, share it. If not, find it. If you want to argue, do it with someone else.

Maybe this 'step' of MicroSoft is only a way to make money?
If you want to use MSN chat you'll have to sign on with an account. MSN wants to get payed for using such an account.
They say it's becuase they can find people faster that way because they have your creditcard number. If you do anything wrong, the police stands at your doorstep 2 days later...
My question is now: "Are they going to make anther user-managemens system, or are they gonna use the passport system? And if they're gonna use the passport system, are they gonna charge people using MSN too?"

In my biased opinion, I think a lot of what MSN does is based on how they can convince folks to subscribe, rather than using Hotmail. MSN elects not to use certain things that help avoid the use of data dictionaries by spammers. They could set some securities on it to help curb the tide of spam that inevitably assaults any Hotmail account. I once set up a Hotmail account and intentionally did not use it to see how much spam it would get. Without ever listing the address anywhere, it got to where it was getting 20 spam mails a day. I'm convinced MSN does this so that people who aren't even smart enough to use AOL will think "Oh, this is awful! I simply NEED to subscribe to MSN to make it all go away!"
I wouldn't be surprised to learn one day that MSN releases its lists to spammers intentionally.

MSN's markiting technique: Make some free services, let as many people subscribe to it and find a way to make money out of it. They can do this by selling email adresses to spammers.
For another thing, I think that they're trying to bind people to them. Same with all that .NET stuff. At the current time, it is free to put all your personal and business information on the net. MS is trying to make people dependent on them for free. And I think they're gonna charge people money afterwards.
Just think of it, you have a small business and your appointments, business-deals, contracts and other documents are .NETed to Miscrosofts servers. What if they suddenly deside to charge you huge amounts of money? Are you willing to lose all your data? No, so you'll pay them...
I am scared of that future...
