I'm a junior (3rd year) at a small private university in BC. I became a communications major last semester, after being undecided (well, technically I was OVER-decided and changed my major, like 3 times). Now I'm studying stuff like journalism, screen and play writing, and, um...lots of other writing:)

I'm part of a group that does volunteer work around campus for different clubs and associations or whatever. We basically do stuff like taking down or setting up for school events, and as part of my committment I spend 1-2 hours helping out where needed in the art department. It sounds crappy, but the people I work with are wonderful:)

I also work in the school cafeteria. Night shift, to be specific. It's mostly short-order stuff (fries, chicken fingers, pizza, other junk food....). I CAN cook, but I usually work on the till. The hours suck (9pm-1am), but they used to be WAY worse, so I don't let it get to me. And I get to see a lot of my friends, which makes time pass quickly, which makes my job worth it :)

And in my spare time (or in class) I draw a lot. I hope to go to art school once I graduate:)

I have my Batchelors degree in Biology (first 3 years were pre-med then I switched over to botany and ecology)

I did a bit of research work for various companies through a temp agency.

Was a substitute teacher.

Went back to school and got my HS teaching certification.

Taught HS bio for 2.5 years.

Spent a summer as a research intern working on mechanisms of zinc sequestration in oyster hemocytes. Burned oyster shell smells bad. (You use a grinder to cut a notch in the shell to extract the hemolymph)

I am currently a Research Analyst who works on radar threat detection systems in an underground vault on a military base. When they let me out of there I get to do trained monkey admin stuff.

I also have part of a CS degree because I got bored. I do things like teach myself C++ or HTML when bored. Yeah, I am odd.

I know I haven't been around in awhile, but here goes:
I'm a Politics Major at Messiah College in PA, where I will hopefully graduate and work somewhere in D.C., as someone's goto man (boy?).
My job? I sell knives...cutco.
I'm an assistant district manager with the company, hopefully becoming a branch manager this summer. I hope to get some cash, then eventually working as a teacher in the private high school i graduated from.

pouring out my soul,
Sithy.

I dropped out of high school at the begining of my Jr. year (last year) Yeah, I would of been a Sr. now, but I couldn't take it anymore, it's a really long story, I did make pretty good grades. I started going to a class that offers refresher courses, and helps you study for tests, like the GED test, so every morning I wake up at 6, go to that class, I come home, change into my uniform and I go to work, Wendy's. It really sucks.

But if all works out well, I'll be getting my GED sometime next month, and start college, at a commity college, in January, a semester early. I will also be switching jobs, from Wendy's to a telemarketing job, whichs pays a little over $8.00 an hour, which they said they was callng me back for the traning sometime next week, I'll be vollentering at the hospital on saturday's every week, just to shadow people basically, so I can see what they do, just to help me decide what carrer i'd like to go into.

I acquired my bachelor's degree in computer science (with minor in Political Science) in May, 2002 from the Illinois Institute of Technology. I am currently pursuing a masters degree at the same institution; dual concentrations in Information Systems and Binary Miracle Weaving (aka Software Engineering).

I serve the CS department as a graduate TA in charge of the all of the introductory computer science courses (including heading up a project which is converting said classes from C++ to Java). Also, the instructor for the CS class for non-CS majors tore his achilles tendon in half last semester, so I had the opportunity to teach that class (and made a pretty good buck doing so). Teaching is teh r0x0r.

I pay my bills by serving as the Manager of Everything That Plugs into a Wall at ComplyNet Corp, which provides risk management solutions to the automotive industry. I manage a database, small network, provide tech support, do all of the corporate accounting, and other misc tasks. Lately, I have been getting paid a goodly sum to sit at my desk and post to the Real Life Forums. Though that might be changing shortly... :)

I am a freshman at Parkland Community College. I am planning on double majoring in Political Science/Philosophy thru grad school level and eventually teaching college and perhaps eventually going into radio. I also work at Pizza Hut as a cook soon to be driver to pay the bills. My wife is currently working towards being a hs history teacher (HS level) but is considering switching over to astrophysics masters and teaching community college.

I am trying very hard to get back in the swing of things with classes. When I'm not doing that I'm either running my online pagan shop (which I'm trying to get back up) or working at my night job as a gas attendant. I know I'm probably gonna grow up to be a house wife or something like that, but I can't seem to jump start any real carrers...stupid job market...

First...stick with the GED stuff...don't worry about the shit thats in the past...I think its awesome that you are trying to get back on the right path. I went kinda nuts for several years after hs and got into a bunch of crazy shite and am just now returning to college as a freshman (i'm 23 now). Good that you are getting back to it now...it just gets harder as the years go by...

Next...

Are you sure you want to get into this? What kinda firm are you going to be working for? I assume you'd be doing outbound sales calls, right? I've worked in call centers before, strictly inbound, and let me tell you...it sucks...as far as sales I've worked as a vaccum salesman for Filter Queen and an insurance salesman for Combined...both door to door...It sucks....Sure...go to the training and stuff but be very skeptical about anything they promise you (bonuses, proven sales methods, etc). Telephone jobs do pay well...I was making $9.70 an hour at a Cingular call center before I needed to walk out and take a $6.00 an hour job to save my sanity....*shudders* "Thank you for being a Cingular Wireless customer, my name is Paul Winters, how may I assist you today?....May I have your ten digit mobile telephone number? For security purposes I need to verify the last four digits of your social security number..."

Currently I'm doing nothing but job hunting, I graduated with an Associates in Computer Support Specialist Networking, but this is Kansas and theres no entry level technical jobs. Its cool though, I've been working on something with a college in Tempe, Arizona If I get exepted I'm going to be working on a bachelor's in Game Design. They've got what seems to be a really great program and I'm really hoping to get in. I'm really excited about it, even if it means moving to a place thats indecently hot 90% of the time.

I am currently a arcade tech/store manager. With a little luck, I will be getting a new better paying job soon.

Work
I am working at the unemployment office helping people who do not have jobs. My current job sucks, but it pays bills. Currenty hunting for a better one.
Before this I was an independant consultant helping people with million dollar events plan and organize everything. That job rocked, but then the economy went south.
Before that I was a manager at an Evil Rent-a-Center. Place sucked.
Before that I was Lead Desktop Support for the Florida Department of Transportation.
Before that I was in charge of the telephone system and desktops at Unisys computer corp, handling the State Employees Insurance Plan.
Before that I was a manager at a botique and florist.

Education
I graduated from Liberty County High School in 1991. 3rd in class (which is not saying much, my graduating class was like 30 people).
I got my Associate of Arts in Business Administration from Chipola Junior College in 1995 (I was paying my own way, it took a while).
I am almost finished with my Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. I graduate next May.
I have had specialized training in Meridian Max telephone systems, the entire Microsoft Office suite of products, Florida Unemployment Law, Florida State Health Insurance Law, Customer Service, Emergency Medicine (although I never was paid for being an EMT), and Emergency Vehicle Operations Courses.

I plan to start my own business in alternative physical therapies shortly after I graduate. Next Spring, I will be taking online courses through Florida State University to get my Masters in Business Administration.

I am into the second of four years of a MA degree. English & Scottish Literature. Ick.

On the weekends I am a barman.

If I'm not doing either of those things I am most likely in bed, perusing the forum or in the pub.

Hmmm, work...

I work as a Title Examiner for a Title Insurance Company here in Michigan. The pay si very good and I like my job. Title insurance is boring but here's the brief rundown. When you sell your house, you have to be able to tell the person buying it that your home is yours, free and clear, free from any encumbrances easements or restrictions. And how do you do that? Well, you pay a firm to look into it and make sure your property is free from all of this. And then you pay them a flat fee for the insurance and if anything goes wrong, the title company foots the bill. Well that's what I do. I examine people's title and make sure they own their property free and clear. I'm like the private Dick of real estate.

Education... I have too much education. I double majored in college, Internation Relations and Russian. And I got a cognate in History. That equals, oh, about a million credits. And I did it in four years. But in the end, it's a liberal arts degree and all you can do with that is go to grad school. So I did.

I went to law school for three years and graduated in May of 2002. Over a year ago. So yes, I am an attorney. And no I am not a scumbag. And yes I know what you call 10,000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean... etc... etc...
My sig would have contained the secret of life, but I'd already clicked submit.
