Rebuilt my desktop last summer and I upgrade when I feel the need
2 Ghz P4
512 Megs of RAM
220 Gigs of Hard Drive Space
Sound Blaster Live sound card (I think)
GeForce 4 4200
Hauppage Capture Card
Plextor Premium 52x32x52x CD Burner
16x DVD
3.5" floppy
Windows XP Professional

Then there's my new laptop, an IBM Thinkpad R40
1.3 Ghz P4M Centrino
512 megs of RAM
40 gig hard drive
CD-RW/DVD drive
Windows XP Pro
Built-in Wireless Ethernet
No floppy drive, this bothers me.

The desktop sits in my room, hooked up to the house network. I use it for AIM, so I'm always on AIM, and I use it to store my email. I check my email first with the laptop, but don't remove it from the server until my desktop checks it.

I use the laptop for email, most web browsing, taking notes in class, and playing games.

In addition, I own a Palm Vx, one of those little hard drive USB things, a webcam, and an adapter so I can plug a playstation controller into my computer.

Me too. They think everyone should use the little usb memory keys, but they fail to realize that most desktops don't have front-mount usb ports, and also that these keys have security devices that windows tries to install every time you plug them in.

Umm... No? I've got several of MANY sizes and brands, and none of them require any installation on Windows Xp/2K systems. Unless it has special secutiry software, most are JUST Solid State Memory chips. No security

Umm...yes? The couple thatI've used both had a "Security Device"(as windows XP and 2000 call it) that requires special drivers that windows doesn't have.

well, then that's the couple you've used. I plug my 256mb memorex one in and "Solid State Device Detected" and suddenly I've got another removable drive, no mess, no fuss, no cleanup.
