I'm gonna do it! Write a 50,000 word novel in one month. That's about 1700 words a day.
The fun part of it is that it doesn't have to be perfect, or even good... you can even write in stream-of-consciousness if you want. You just have to push yourself to write a lot, and it's good practice. Who knows... maybe once the month is over you can edit it and turn it into a really good book?
Are any of you going to try this? I am and it would be nice to have some company. I just thought I'd post this now so anyone who decides to do it has a whole month to brainstorm ideas for their novel.

Heh Heh:
Can I write one word 50,000 times?
No. Well... No.
The project sounds like fun... I think I might join in, too.

That sounds like fun, but I can barely find the time to write a 1500 word essay, which isn't even that much, on top of everything else I have to do:(
Unless......unless I take ALL the essays I've ever written and string them together to make a story! I can see it now: Jesus meets Descartes and they discuss social constructionism during the Great Fire of London in their public speaking class.
Ha! John Grisham's got nothing on me!

Yeah but you don't have to work on this like you do an essay, sneaky ninja. You just write whatever comes into your head. You don't have to worry about it being just right, because it's not judged or graded. You can have fun with it.

It's getting to be that time! If you want to try your hand at writing a novel, make sure you're ready with a good idea for a story so you can jump right in November 1st and start writing.

I could do it just by stringing together all my posts in one month

SIG TREND OF THE MONTH IS BLANK SIGS BECAUSE I GOT LAZY AND DIDN'T MAKE THE THING AND STUFF.

Soth: Yeah, but only you would want to read that. Again and again. And pausing every once in a while to look at yourself in the mirror and say "hey good one"
RadicalDreamer: You could make a collection of short stories that totals up to 50,000 words? That actually sounds easier than writing one huge coherent plot.
I'm starting to get nervous, thinking of all the writing I'll have to do. I'm not sure if I'll have enough ideas for the book by then... gotta make an outline of some sorts to organize the plot and characters.

I've never ever started writing a story with an idea of where it will go. Which is why I always write myself into a corner. But at the same time, I enjoy the process of writing more if it's as much a mystery to me where it will end up as to the person who will read it.

You guys can find a tremendous amount of support on the NaNoWriMo forums if you get stuck partway through. Those crazies have all kinds of ideas to get you moving again.
Part of the fun of NaNoWriMo is the community. I just lurk, but I still laugh a lot and find inspiration where I am least expecting it.
