you know I am not exactly too sure on how arnold will run the state. what i didn't like was the fact that he won the election without really stating a definate political platform. he won the election by pointing out the obvious and cracking silly one liners. he dodged most any question that tried to get him to make a stand on something. after visiting his website i started to get a better idea of what his platforms are. i do like the fact that he is against any and every cut on education. I don't like his stance on the death penalty and trying to streamline the process. it is supposed to be difficult to put a person to death. it shouldn't be easy for any government. what surprised me is his stance on the environment. most GOP'ers are typically more business oriented. but he SAYS he wants to preserve the lands and doesn't want off shore drilling. i wonder how this will sit with the people in his party.

i consider california home even while I am traveling and working overseas. I get to occasionally meet some fellow americans from california...one actually thought arnold would be wonderful because he is and outsider and would clear away all the liberals from the state gov. I thought this was extremely naive....arnold is going to surround himself with political players. he himself will be a facade....don't fool yourself...his adminstration and advisers will be chalk full of professional politicians. for christ sakes he has a former secretary of state on his economic adviser list. you can't place the entire blame on davis. alot of it, yes..but it takes alot of people to flush a government into the toilet. now I wait to see how arnold does with his staff and against a democrat controled house legislator. anything he wants to do has to get through that. i just hope they don't get blinded by his dazzleing pects and witty one liners.

Seeing how he got elected on one liners and dodging issues.. yes i do think they were dazzled by pecs and fame. And combined with people being pissed off by davis. But oh well, i don't live there..

One thing I do expect to see is a bit of legislation that makes things easier on the entertainment industry.

you know if i was to choose someone that would really make people stand up and take notice of california...i would rather have had seen larry flynnt get elected..atleast I know he would rather spit in peoples face and piss them off than to cave in and i know he would be a staunch supporter of gun control.

I don't know if arnold would make things easier for entertainment industry. As he said, he's already a multi millionaire, he didn't need any campaign contributions so he doesn't owe them any favours either.

True, but do you think the man does not have friends still in the business? He may not need their political or economic support, but if they are real friends, he might try to help them out. After all, he would know what it is to be a actor and know their plight, so to speak.

Actually, it was raised with Davis's signature; it will be cut with Arnold's.

And McClintock is anything but a hypocrite. He's about the most honest man in Sacramento right now (though he didn't drop out like he said he would if another Republican was well in the lead). He knows the budget better than anyone, and I hope that Arnold listens to him.

Personally, I hope that an investigation is launched into Bustamante's fund-raising, because he ignored both the state Fair Political Practices Commission and a court order to stop spending the money illegally raised. I hope he's removed from office, and Arnold can appoint someone -- maybe McClintock -- to the position. Of course, the investigation probably won't happen because then it adds more fuel to the allegations that this was a conservative power grab, but it would still be nice to see.

I didn't say cutting that tax was gonna require a miracle, i said getting out of deficit while cutting those car taxes and without raising any other was going to require some miracle. From what i read California's deficit is larger than all the deficits of all the other states combined.

No problem at all Soth...

Anyways, I'm curious what exactly is Arnold going to do, what concrete solutions does he have for economy, I mean, he hasn't been a known name in politics.

His transition team is being announced right now, and includes people from both parties and an incredibl wide range of ideologies, from the most conservative to the most liberal.

I'd give Arnold a chance. It's not like things could get much worse there anyways. Besides, him being governer might help boost interest in politics.

Wow. You sure have been an utter moron lately, 0bb3. What, did you run out of legitimate "I hate America!" comments with actual reasons and decided to just start pulling stuff out of your ass by not even commenting intelligently on Arnold being elected?

We even get our beloved comic author making a thread appearance and making an intelligent post, and you're stuck in this little "Look at me! Look at me do stupid stuff!" rutt of yours.

I hope he can do something about those Indian casinos. I'm tired of hearing my mother yelling about them.

You guys have to realize, it was more sarcasm than anything else when I said "I lost all hope"

I DO NOT think that arnold should be Governor. After looking at some of his stances on his website, I found myself asking How he would do all this. Sure all of it sounds real nice, but I want to know how.

And one thing, that makes me not like Arnold is- I do not support gay marriage. Marriage is unique to a man and woman

Though he does go to say that he will give gays equal rights, I still belive it is wrong to deny any two people the gift of marrige.

And I do like how he has been supporting education through-out his entire campaign. But who doesn't?

Since I don't keep up with all the state's govenors, especially ones across the country, I didn't know anything about Gray Davis other than his name up untill this whole thing started, I would preffer anybody to be governor, even Arnold than him.
