Kernel Compilation errors

Post by DarthJon » Mon Oct 13, 2003 8:15 pm

Hey, I need to compile a separate 2.4.9 Kernel on my Redhat 9.0 systems (needs to be 2.4.9 for a certain peiece of software to run) However I can't seem to get the damn thing to compile. I have all the versions of the copilers included with the redhat 9.0 distribution. I am pretty sure I am not configuring something right. The process goes along fine and then I get a whole screen of error messages like
devllist.h: device 10f4 cause section conflict type error
(or something very similar, I don't have the consloe infront of me now) then the compilation craps out (oh this is duriong the make bzImage command) anybody got a clue?

Hrmm, I'm assuming the file is devlist.h with one L in the word? Did you download the kernel source as a package like a .rpm? You might want to check out kernel.org and get your kernel source from there. Also did you do 'make mrproper' before configuring your kernel? That would flush out any remnants from a previous kernel compile.
