First time forum user. Mayhaps it's a dumb question...but...

What's the simplest way to upload a pic from my hard drive to this forum? would it work just linking from the file directory? I know i've tried that in the past with my online journal, etc. and it doesn't show unless i'm online at the time someone is trying to view it.
