The Highest of All GUs - TheArchGu

Post by thearchgu » Tue Oct 21, 2003 2:48 pm

Hi everyone! I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself to everyone here.

I'm TheArchGu :) but everyone calls me Augie. I got this name when I was in school, because I wasn't as l33t as some of my friends, but I was cool enough to get several letters of GURU, so I became the Highest of all the Gu's (the Arch Gu) so the name sticks - of course I'm the only one that uses the nick.

Oh well, thanks for giving me an area to introduce myself!

:D

You are welcome.

So, I see you are from Virginia.. it appears as though you are out of high school.. how old are you and do you go to school now? What do you do for fun?

Hope to hear more about you soon, Augie. Welcome to the forums.

:) I feel so welcome here :D

Ok, a little more about me.

I'm 25 years old (Male), Not currently going to school. I graduated (from College) 3 years ago, and currently hold the title of Web Developer Extrodinaire (notice I'm not a designer, if you look at my website you'll see why)

http://www.thearchgu.com

Fun things to do:
Reformat my computer because it is not working the way I like it - It has not become sentient yet (like Dave's Computer, PAL)
Listen to the Don and Mike Radio Show while sitting in traffic
Read Real-Life Comics and Mega Tokyo - next weekend I will probably catch up on Userfriendly
Watch Anime (Favorite shows: DBZ, Yu Yu Hakasho, Inuyasha, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, etc.)
Devise new plans for World Domination 8)

And for the Record, I consider myself a Geek. My sister calls me a dork, but I think she's just jealous. I don't think I fill the category for Nerd, though I know a few people that do.

Calus grabs the sticks from Mavolent and thearchgu and tosses them out the window.

Play nice.

The first thing on your "fun things to do" list is... reformat your computer?

I'd make fun of you, but I decided to do that myself the other day because my mothers system was getting uppity and I figured it'd be quicker than a virus scan...

It's a strange world we live in where some people actually try to solve their computer problems by anything other than starting over from scratch...

I've reformatting my computer tons of times. Just backup the crap I WANT, then delete EVERYTHING else.

It's like a quartly thing, because my hard drive is like.. teeny.

Anyway, welcome! Don't feed anyone. Keep all extremities in the board at all times, and don't carouse on the train.

... You can carouse. I just wanted to use the word. It's a fun word. ^^
Have you ever spent days and days and days making up flavors of ice cream that no one’s ever eaten before? Like chicken and telephone ice cream? Green mouse ice cream was the worst.I didn’t like that at all.

I actually heard that it was good to reformat your computer every 6 months to prevent 'Bit Rot'. I'm actually trying to figure out the best way to partition my system so that when I do reformat my drives I won't lose everything that I want. I should be getting my OS software soon (Panther Release) and trying to figure out what the best I way I should handle the new 6 month reformat plan.

I should be having a Reformat party in a few days. :) as soon as the software lands in my lap :)

I make a small partition for my OS and keep the rest on another partition.

I don't think that bit-rot would be a problem if you defragged every once in a while though...

Hey, that's something that I need to do...
