Greg looks a lil bit like Eminem......

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

Ok, but I'm just saying people should be more original. I mean, everything sounds the same. From a musical stand point most of it is all the same shit.

if everyone was original, music wouldn't have genres.

I don't like the whole idea of dismissing a musical genre. Blanket statements like "Rap should die" or "I listen to everything but country and rap" are pretty immature. I listen to everything I can find, and there's stuff I like, and stuff that I don't like in every musical genre.

Sure, everyone has their own preferences, but by excluding something, you miss out on a lot of good music. I've been over this with my wife several times. In order for her to enjoy a song, she has to understand the words, and the meaning of the song, "why was it written?", "what does it stand for?", "do I agree with the concept?".

Because of her stance, she misses out on a lot of good stuff. My latest cause has been to get her to appreciate some of my favorite AC/DC tunes. Sure, they're about killing people and cheating on your wife, but damnit, they're good tunes!

At any rate, I don't believe in saying an entire musical genre just plain sucks. And for all of you people who say that rap needs to die, I think you need to broaden your horizons a little bit. Personally, I thought that RunDMC and Aerosmith doing "Walk This Way" together was pretty kick ass!
Now it's over. I'm dead, and I haven't done anything that I want.... or, I'm still alive and there's nothing I want to do...

I agree that RunDMC and a lot of that super old school rap was pretty cool.

However, I also think that people have the right to dislike a genre of music. Sometimes you know what you don't like. I can honestly say that I HATE my parents' entire genre of music...but that could have to do with the fact that its Portugese folk music... and I don't think I'm being close minded at all. Its just really really bad. I can also say that I don't generally like current trends in rap. The music just doesn't interest me. Something about the styles and some of the topics, bore me. But that's just me. I like a broad span of music from German Death Metal to Korean Techno. I also like the good old rock classics and some Celtic folk music. But for the most part I can't resist an angry singer and some hard, intense beats...with at least a little guitar. But I still don't like most rap. Just my tastes and my preferences.
Damnit, STOP BITING ME!

Well, I can see what you mean by not saying all rap should die. I mean yeah that Walk this way song kicked ass. I'm just saying a lot of the stuff out there now sucks. It's all generic. The rappers just go in say their lines and thats it you know? I feel its not worth me wasting my time listening to this bullshit when I can listen to something like say Steve Vai. He sits down and writes his music by himself, does all the bass drum and guitar parts. Has anyone ever heard this guy? It's amazing the stuff that comes out of his head. Or I could listen to a band like Led Zepplin. Their first two cd's are stolen songs, but listening to it you wouldn't be able to tell, because they sound so damn cool. I mean no one else sounds like Led Zepplin.

I play a lot of music myself, like I stated before. After playing a lot of music, you start to see how simple everything you listen to is. And after a while, it's like your listening to "Mary Had a Little Lamb," when you could be listening to "Moonlight Sonata"

Oh, and to who ever said that if everything was original there wouldn't be genre's. Listen to Stevie Ray Vaughn's song "Texas Flood," then listen to some Eric Clapton songs like "Crossroads" or "Badge," then listen to some B.B. King, or "The Lemon Song" and "Since I've Been Loving You" by Led Zepplin. All of this is Blues. It doesn't sound alike, but it's all blues. It's because they're orginal. They can take a simple Blues song, and turn it into something great.

dont bag rap, its good, and dont base your opinion on the genre by listening to eminem, he is gay and no way the best rapper. i admit he has some good beats but i dont like his lyrics and i find him annoying.

the best rappers are 2pac, snoop dogg, dr dre and nas

and rappers do write their own lyrics and so what if they dont use guitars? there is a song where there is a guitar "Thug Mansion Remix - 2pac and Nas".

half of you people who hate rap probably havent even heard many songs and probably heard the shit ones and based your opinion on that. my friend hated rap but then i put some rap on a minidisc for him and now he likes it because he actually listened to it.

You guus need to redefine your definition of music.
rap as defined by me: idiots seeking attention from the general public.
pop: idiots who think they can sing seeking attention from the general public.
punk: idiots.
Ok. Now I'll roll some dice for effect and then make some s*** up.

Excuse me WHITE STRIPES = PUNK NO WAY

Eminem is Pop not Rap as far as I am concerned

Pop - disgusts me, like music for the right reasons. Instrumental talent, the sound, flow, how it makes you feel and one of the most important the lyrics even if there aren't any.

I have never heard of anyone complaining about the sort of music I listen too. If you do thats cool you are a minority.

Some bands I like - NIN, KoRn, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Tool, A Perfect Circle, White Stripes - odd ones Real Big Fish and The Cure

Anyway that sort of stuff!

We've been over this in a previous thread. Greg looks like the guy who plays the older brother on Boy Meet's World.

Alright, retards:

There is good rap out there. Eminem has some fabulous songs. Most of you probably hate him because you want to fit in or be cool or whatever cause supposedly everyone hates him, but they don't. Listen to the songs. They say a lot more than what can fit between your two brain cells at once.

Linkin Park IS NOT RAP.

Music is a form of expression, whether or not it's being used to get attention. And these blanket statements like "Not only am I making a stupid generalization about things I don't understand, but also anyone who doesn't agree with me is an idiot" just show your own ignorance.

Like you Araxian. Rap is just people getting attention? Give me a break.

ALL generalizations are bad.

Duh. Music, and art in general, is simply a form of expression. Shady himself has admitted that he needs help, but says that if he does so, he'll stop selling records.

And it's kind of ironic that critics acusing him of playing the race card are actually playing it for him. And being 'homophobic'? Please. He's saying nothing other rappers, comedians, and TV haven't been saying for decades.

That said, I've had enough of foul-mouthed 'musicians' claiming they're simply talking about 'what's on the street'. They never seem to consider the chance that their music is contributing to the poor conditions. And the consumers have to be significantly PR-high to pay to listen to a guy sing about how he's living wit' the bling-bling off his record sales. That's just sad.

Also, Eminem is a RAPPER. He fits the definiton of the difference between rap and pop. The sound engineering is different from what we've spent the last -what-20 years listening to, but if he was black, there'd be no debate. He'd be just another rapper.

Linkin park doesn't fit the 'Image' of rock, but they are, nonetheless. They do do some rap, but are firmly a rock group.

Paragraph 1; And in the interviews, you get the distinct feeling that they're reading off cue cards.
Except for snoop D-O-double gizzle, who has an actual personality.

Para 2; It's a common philosophical question; whether there are only a few stories told in different ways.

No, it means that you're in denial. It's impossile to live life without someone complaining about the music you like.

Unless, of course, you live in a cell, or actively avoid it.

By definition, those with differing opinions from yoursabout every given subject are a majority. Even Killing babies. Which is what abortion does. Some argue it's necessary, other's not. Murder? No, Euthanasia. Theft? No, surplus removal. Und so weiter. My point is that you, in fact, are the minority.

Wow... It sounds like the Popular kids at school who beat you up like rap. Is this your way of standing up to them?

Seriously, The point I am about to try to make has been made many times before in this thread. That point is that there is alot of music out there, and if you simply ignore a whole genre is just being stupid. I like a few rap songs, and don't like some of them. That's just me.

I like alot of different genres of music. For example, the Artists in my "Favourites" Cd case at this very moment is "The Darkness", "Robbie Willams", "Good Charlotte", "Eminem", "Elton John", and "The Beatles".

Just don't block out an entire genre from your listening habbits.

Pwease??
