3D Still Life

Post by Quelkron » Mon Oct 27, 2003 2:18 pm

This is just a still life esque picture I made using a 3D program. It took me most of the weekend to do, granted a lot of that time was spent rendering (each render takes about 30 min). Any comments/criticisms would be greatly appriciated.

The second picture has a simple brush stroke filter for effect (and to mask the less than perfect bump mapping on the back wall, I've got to work on that).

I would suggest to remove the mirroring effect from the table, and make it a bit more stone-esque, like the back wall. The table looks kinda fake with the reflections.
But other than that it pwnz0rz!

Thanks, it is always my goal to pwnz0r (I can't believe I just typed that).

I suppose I could tone down the reflection at least. The table is has a polished marble top, so there is supposed to be some reflection, but I think your right that it might be a tad too much.

The bruse stroke bit is pretty nice - I like the softening-type effect it adds.

I'd agree that the reflection could use some toning down. I'd also consider adding a really gentle light source in the far right so that the shadow cast by the bowl and candlestick aren't so solidly black - maybe you can also turn off shadows cast by that light, just so you don't get a double-shadow effect.

Overall, a very very nice composition. :)

Here's an update in my Still Life project. I've toned down the reflection, added in that extra light, changed the curations to velvet, and added some new models to the scene. I still have to work on softening the shadows and the framing still doesn't seem right.

Still Life (again)

Any more comments or criticisms would be appriciated.

Progressing nicely, I quite like it. :)

Very nice.

What is that weird shadow underneath the table? is it just a byproduct of the multiple light sources?

I think that shadow is messed up by the second light source. Though I don't know why it messed that shadow up, but not the rest. I have fixed that on my latest render, but I won't have a chance to post that until monday.
