Favorite Pen and Paper game

Post by EvilElf » Sat Nov 01, 2003 8:04 pm

So what is your Favorite Pen and Paper game, and for that game what edition do you like most?

I like Dungeons and Dragons as mine simple to play and easy to teach to people on how to play when you are playing in person. ^_^;

D&D is by far the best known, and the most likely that someone is going to know, so it certainly gets the vote for most popular

Also, it is the only RPG i have every actually consistently played, and the only two other systems I really know are the Palladium one, and GURPS (admitedly, very little) so it gets my vote for best as well (mostly through lack of knowledge ;) )

I haven't ever played a pen and paper rpg. I don't know anyone who does either. Only D&D I've played is on pc.

I think I'd quite like to play the pen and paper versions though, if I can find some people who know what they're doing.

D&D 3.0/3.5. My friends and I slowly moved to it from AD&D.

Hmmm, I've only played D&D 3.0/3.5 and D%D 2nd but I want to learn White Wolf really bad. Sucks that they are ending production after this year. I could be wrong though. Does anyone know if this is true?

They're not ending production, they're ending the story arc, which has lasted far too long as it is.

Edit: D'oh, forgot the thread topic. Shadowrun, personally, followed by D&D 3E, heavily modified by our group.

Anything White-Wolf, baybee! And, yup, WW will no longer publish supplements from the World of Darkness. They are making some "Armegeddon" supplements for the end times. After that, no more WoD. As for what they're doing next...I haven't the foggiest idea. Anybody heard anything about WW's next move?

Aside from WW being my fave., I like D&D (last time I played, I played 3rd) and I am also working on creating my own RPG, based upon the book I am writing.

I enjoy the backstory of Rifts and Shadowrun better than any other game.

I enjoy the gothic horror in all the White Wolf games and am absolutely thrilled they are in charge of Ravenloft for 3rd ed D&D.

I enjoy the amazing balance of the original Marvel Superheros game. No other game has allowed such a balanced game for super-powered characters.

I enjoy D&D for its simplicity combined with flexibility to create a veritable toolbox of character development. If you cannot make what you want with what they have, you can create something that does given the flexibility of the rules.

I have no favorite, I like different parts of the different games.

If i can find a solid well proportioned group, ill take Rifts/Paladium anyday, quickly followed by D&D of any edition, and then Deadlands of either setting.
