I'm a bad person. I'm laughing before I've even seen it.

Yeah, I'm ashamed of how hilarious I found that.
In the fall of 1972 President Nixon announced that the rate of increase of inflation was decreasing. This was the first time that a sitting president used the third derivative to advance his case for reelection. - Hugo Rossi, Mathmetician.

I'm not ashamed.

Though I'm more laughing at the horrible cost to the Education Board when parents demand seatbelts.

And then the second cost when some kid gets their head bashed in by a bully armed with a blunt seatbelt.

A few years back, perhaps as many as 10 or 12. Depends on the school board though. I don't think it's any kind of standard, could be wrong though.

Yeah, I watched this broadcast before. Now the parents are all outraged that seat belts haven't been installed, not realizing that, due to the sheer size of the bus, any child still in the developement stages of life wearing a seat belt would snap like a twig if flung sideways like these kids were.
On the other side of the screen, it all looks so easy.

And then there's the whole using the seatbelt as a small bludgeon thing that Shroom mentioned.

Yeah, I can imagine the welts those things could cause.

I guess it makes sense.

In a sick sort of way.

School buses used to HAVE seatbelts. The problem is the aforementioned bludgeoning. They were removed, and have been since. And now this. With the outrage.

And I just sit back and laaaaaaaaaaaugh 'cause I can't cry no mo'...

I enjoyed how quickly their expressions change... but then again, I'm a tad sadistic.

Seat belts on Buses
School bus crash data show that a Federal requirement for belts on buses would provide little, if any, added protection in a crash. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) have come to the same conclusion. NTSB concluded in a 1987 study of school bus crashes that most fatalities and injuries were due to occupant seating positions being in direct line with the crash forces. NTSB stated that seat belts would not have prevented most of the serious injuries and fatalities occurring in school bus crashes.
