so, to sum up what SoulMusic said in one word, anime is pretty :)

I dunno why I watch anime, I just do.. It jsut draws me in.. Then again I am 22 and still watch saturday mornign cartoons.. I suppose they just give me an escape from reality, so it is pretty much the same reason that i read, I jsut dont have the time to start a new book now, so i watch anime :)

Furre-
refer me to some of these shows, because I haven't seen very many on. I haven't seen many aired here and I want to see some decent fantasy, etc, etc SHOWS that are in the US (I still think the Japanese are better at making them, lol  )!

A perfect example of that would be the Fox flop "Firefly" and its blatant rip-offness of Outlaw Star.

Though, if you actually WATCHED the show, it wasn't. It's only the ignorant anime fans that never even watched the show that say that.

Anime is awesome, but you have to watch out for really bad dubbings. And some of the best anime DOESN'T get aired, or if it does, words and scenes get chopped out to save our poor American sensitivity. Go to a Blockbuster or something, pick up anime there. Like Slayers...or Cowboy Bebop...or Excel Saga...or Princess Mononoke...or Akira...or Bastard!!...or a hundred million others. They might be in the 'Foreign Films' area. That's where Nebraska puts them, anyway.

I watched one episode of it. While it obviously wasn't a carbon copy of Outlaw Star, the similarities were there. Regardless, it didn't hold my interest anyway.

It was on a lot longer than 3 weeks. It was on Sci Fi for almost 6 months....
You'll find MOST are geared for adults, and the rest can be both, for instance like Yu Yu Hakusho or something like that.
And to prove that most Japanese don't see anime as 'for adults'

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=3312

The Japanese Commission for better broadcasting has released an announcement stating that TV viewers complained about a scene in episode 16 of Gundam Seed. The scene in question shows the 16 year old protagonist, Kira, putting on his pants while a 15 year old female character is in bed in the same room. While there was no actual scene depicting any sex, the scene is thought to have suggested a sexual relationship between Kira and his 15 year old colleague. Many of the complainst had to do with such a scene being broadcast on TV at 6pm, as well as the widespread belief that Anime is for children (even in Japan).

Mainichi responded to the criticism stating that it should have given more careful consideration to the episode before airing it.

Okay...there cursing may be unbleeped, but that's not ultraconservative. It's just because some people thnk cursing is wrong. Like me. Maybe you're just desensitized.

After all, if there are thousands of words in the dictionary, why chain yourself to five?
