I sleep way too much.

Post by The Forum Hillbilly » Wed Nov 26, 2003 7:33 pm

It doesn't matter when I go to bed I always cannot wake up until 2:00 pm or later! I try to wake up but I just can't! A few days ago I went to bed at midnight and didn't wake up at 2:00, and then the time I do spend awake, I spend all my time lying around yawning, and complaining how tired I am!

This is really starting to bug me, I can't do anything I'm always too tired to do it! I get up and take a shower, lay on the couch and watch star trek until it's time to go to work, where I stand around all day, or if a manager isn't around, I go out into the dining room where you can't see from the counter and sit down for awhile.

Any ideas? Caffine makes me sleepy too!

You could have anemia. It's no big deal, just get more Iron in your diet. You'd be surprised how changing your eating habits can help you feel better.

I'm with Sneaky Ninja. I went in to see the doctor about a similar problem and he diagnosed me with a rather low iron level. Not anemia, he said(though I cant' remember his reasoning), but the low iron was making me quite weak and tired.

He's got me taking iron supplement pills and I've been feeling much better. Though I haven't been taking them recently, and now I'm always tired and wanting to sleep again. I should probably start taking 'em again.

If it's a real problem, I'd go to see the doctor. He might perscribe something, or maybe, like the Ninja said, you should just start eating things with more iron in them. Iron rich foods are tasty too!

Oh, and I feel a lot better in the morning when I have eggs, toast and hashbrowns for breakfast. Probably the protein.

Set a veery loud alarm.

I find a half-broken radio tuned to a local pop station at high volume works well.

About 10% of people are biologicaly "night owls." This means that they can't get a good night's sleep until after a certain time. I'm one of those people, too and it can be quite a curse since everything in society is built around the day people. If that's all the problem is, there's no "cure" unfortunately, but at least graveyard shifts tend to have higher pay.

People with ADHD get sleepy from caffeine. It doesn't necessarily mean you have it, but it's something you might consider looking into just in case.

Here is another thread about sleeping problems, might find some ideas in there.

I'm not really too sure about your specific problem, it could be habit or it could be a physical condition. If it is really a big problem, I would suggest seeing a doctor.

Well, it looks to me like you aren't really exercising(I butchered that spelling horribly) much. You could always try that, and if that doesn't work, just try to give in to being tired very early, I suppose, and maybe you can manage to wake up at something more like 9 am. Granted, that would kill your day, so I suppose it isn't exactly going to work too well. So I'd go for the exercise thing.

Grav just blames her lack of enery on her lack of pulse. ^.^

Um...

No. You didn't. It's right. Exercising.

Are you sure you're getting enough iron? :P

(Or did you mean you had butchered the spelling and then corrected it?)

The next time you want to butcher the spelling of exercising, use "exorcising" - that means to expel evil spirits, which may involve exercising.

I also second the exercising idea, but only because it's a good one. I've been sleeping MUCH better since I started exercising... I'm in better shape and I feel generally less awful than I used to.

But I'm no less tired than before... it's helping me stay healthy, but it didn't help my being tired thing at all...

It's supossed to help, in addition to the eating right, and possibly iron supliments as well. ^.^;

Exercising alone does keep you in shape, it doesn't help with exhaustion. ^.^;

Eating... right?

I suppose a Kahlua Latte with a brownie for breakfast, a Sobe Nirvana and a Mars Bar for lunch, and probably more coffee for dinner doesn't count as eating right, eh?

No wonder my iron's so low.

Heh, better than Grav's a bag of microwave popcorn and a Mountain Dew a day meal doesn't help. ^.^;

Yeah, try at least eating some jellied toast, or a bowl of soup. Preferably a beef stew of some sort, and nice, thick one....mmmmm.....stew......

I have no internal clock. It's not for a lack of order or anything. For a LONG time I got into bed at the same time every night. It just didn't help. I fall asleep very very randomly. Usually not till very very late. I also don't get hungry at any given time. I just sort of have to tell myself when it's time to eat.
