Let's think: You get pissed and rant when they say they hate rock and roll. So of course, you say that rap is utter crap as well. Perhaps they listened to rock and roll and their honest opinion of it was that it wasn't that great, hm? But of course, they can't have, because you're right and they're wrong.
Well as I said before they don't listen to rock n roll. They didn't know who Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page were. They hadn't even heard any of their songs. But when I said rock n roll they instantly started to make fun of us because we listen to stuff like Blink 182. I didn't tell them that I listen to Blink 182. In fact I don't even listen to that. But because I said rock n roll they thought that is what I meant.
Now they said they listen to rap. I'm ok with that, but when the stuff they mentioned (Jay-Z and some other rapper whose name has slipped my mind at the moment...) was apparently "better" then the stuff that I listen to, and they've never heard, then yeah I think I should be able to critizise the stuff they listened to.
And yes not all rap is bad, but most of the stuff out these days isn't that great.
This just means that they heard a small sample. Suppose they have a friend who likes rock, and he forced them through about 10 different songs, each by a different performer. None of these songs appealed to them, and they all followed the same path. They can safely say that rock, in their opinion, is crap. How many rap songs, might I ask, have you listened to through and through without being biased?
Anything that starts with one fist must end with a million minds.
