Okay, furre, I think you're taking that too literally. I think what she meant about the porn is that they're misguided and suffering from some psychological trouble. And by "true," I think she meant "true to herself."

But that's not necessarily the case, Layla.

There is no accounting for taste. It is highly likely they truly enjoy that. And not because they're misguided. As long as that's not the ONLY thing they enjoy, as long as they wouldn't HAVE to do that to be happy, then they're not misguided at all.

Could be that is what she meant, but I happen to think that's a very, very bold statement. To say that all women in porn are misguided or "suffering" from psychological problems is something that I consider worth questioning. I'm weird, but you know that.
Gee, I sure like TV. And wearing pants.

Okay, not all, but a good 95-99%, and that's being safe. I believe you're taking it too literally again.

I used to know several women who were streetwalkers (knowing personally, not professionally). They said they did it because of the money. Knowing them as I did, I knew of very few with severe psych problems, a few father complexes and a couple with feelings of self-depreciation but most of them (9 out of 13) were ok psych-wise.

I think we just hear more about the sad cases as opposed to the 'well-adjusted hookers.'

I don't care who's right, who's wrong, or what you meant to say. Only thing I care about is the Truth. If you have it, good, share it. If not, find it. If you want to argue, do it with someone else.

Fixer's right. Just because someone has a questionable occupation doesn't necessarily mean that they themselves are questionable.

Saving Private Ryan, for example, Tom Hanks plays a grade-school teacher who was drafted into the army and kills people. Okay, that was a bad example, but you guys are smart enough to know what I mean.

I'm not sure why you're saying "questionable." Being exploited certainly isn't the same as being questionable, but maybe I'm misunderstanding your use of the word.

To be honest, I'm not sure what the argument is about. I understand that there may be some odd people who can enter into a traumatizing career unscathed, but I don't think the odd exceptions were what the discussion was about.

He can use "questionable" because in his observations, some of these women don't feel exploited.

Can't rape the willing, so to speak.
Here I am, to sing you a song. And there you are, asleep against the windowpane, just like always.
