you see if you really 'don't care' about this subject then you would not of posted. you see if noone posts then the thread drops down, and i don't reply. the only reason to post is if you have some wierd objection or other opinion to contribute.

Actually, most of us are posting solely to screw with you and see how many times we can get you to repeat your arguments over and over again, since apparently, those are the only ones you have. you see your objections fail to have any proper reasoning behind them at all. you have yet to give a single reason as to how this adversely affects anyone in the slightest.

And you've yet to give a good reason as to why you can't just highlight it while you wait. Using highlight like your finger is not a good reason, as you have a mouse arrow that serves just as well. Aside from which, the background in that case is a 115 *byte* file, If anything, you should complain about the size of the comic, the ColoGuys banner, the two link pictures, and the logo, as those take up 2/3's of the comic load (some 200K.), that is, if you were really interested in increasing the load speed of the comic.

You see, by people telling you to "Shut up", it would, if enacted, bring a positive outcome.

You see (a common term used when explaining things, think "obviously"), by people (i.e. us.) telling you (as in the person who uses the name "stator") to "Shut Up" (cease speaking, be quiet.), it would, if enacted, (if we did it, the following would happen.), bring a positive outcome (be 'Teh rox', make baby Jesus happy.)

Your comments, along the range of 'blah blah blah', and 'blah blah blah' (see how it's exactly the same thing over and over again? Just wanted to point that out.), have no possibly productive outcome.

Now, to continue, using a persons arguments on them shows the inconsistency of their logic. Of course, when that person can't recognize that, then, invariably, you have a problem. Especially when the person deigns to preach to us about something that none of us agree with, then after we say we don't agree, continues to say exactly the same thing. You say your minutes are precious to you? I'll bet Greg says the same thing, yet here you are asking him to take time out of his life to change the coding on this website so you can be happy. Anyone who reads the comic regularly will know that Greg barely has time to work, do the things he needs to do at home, then put up this great comic strip every weekday. Sometimes he doesn't, but we don't (at least I don't) go off and send him hate mail because of it. Greg has a life. Hell, the comic's supposedly based on it. The vast majority of us are satisfied with the comic the way it is, regardless of our load time. I'll have you know that I was on a 56k connection (that actually ran at about 33.6k) and still read this site every day. My solution? Multi-task. Open a new window to load the Real Life page, then go back to the original and read whatever I had already loaded.

Also, before you respond to and/or berate one of our fellow forum-dwellers you actually read what they have to say. Eihger was informing you of the bandwidth sharing problem on cable internet that can actually cause it to go SLOWER that your ISDN connection. So it did pertain to you. This is not only directed at you though, there's a couple posts in this thread directed at you that I think are uncalled for as well.

Greg's already debated this issue in comic. It was that one that was linked for you earlier. But, since you've read the comic for years, you already knew that.

Greg knows that the site isn't the friendliest for dial-up. Just suck it up, multi-task, or highlight the page. Not like there's so much to read on the Real Life page that you're going to lose your place.

Lets take a look at the mistakes you have made so far...
-You enter without even introducing yourself.
-Your first post was a new thread (and not in the intro forum)
-Your first post was demanding things be changed. ("make the site 56k friendly already" is not exactly asking nicely)
-You post an extremely large image which is frowned upon because it is hard to read the other posts (and yes, it is different from waiting 30 seconds to read the text. You have to constantly scroll back and forth to read each line).
-You insult the other forum members (if you cant see whats wrong here, you are hopeless).

stator: This is my opinions on the matter: So far, to my knowledge (if anyone can validate or invalidate what I'm saying please do.) no one else is complaining about the site. Maybe if hundreds of the forumites all jumping on your bandwagon, even ones who have a high-speed connection, something might be done. 1) Get yourself a book that explains the grammar and spelling of the english language. You can read it while waiting for the page to load.
2) Not posting pictures that make people scroll horizontally is what is commonly referred to as common courtesy. A concept you might want to look into after going through that book on the english language.
3) I'm sure you can spot your own hipocrisy in the fact that the pictures you posted was 130kb, which is way, way above what was needed to get your point across.
4) I wonder why people would encourage you to shut up when you haven't provoked them at all with personal insults...

first of all i would like to point out that at no point was this about decreasing the load times. it was only about giving someone something to do whilst the page is loaded, which doesn't affect the time it takes in the slightest.

greg may well have better things to do with his time, he may not, but unless you are his personal secretary, i suggest you leave his personal affairs up to him, instead of trying to tell everyone else what he does and does not have time to do. if he choses not to fix it, then that is fair enough, but it is worth noting that his intention is to make this a larger income earner for himself, and as such, it would be wise to make the site as usable as possitlbe to everyone. personally i know i wont be joining the RLSG or buying any advertising from him untill this is fixed....

You know, for someone who doesn't care what us "no-lifers" think, you sure do feel the need to make sure that we know that you feel this way, almost as if you care about what we think.

Just because you feel inadequate about your position in life doesn't mean that you have to take it out on people who are obviously more well adjusted than you will ever be. Who has more of a life, the people who hold conversations about topics that interest them, or the person who signs up for a forum simply to bitch about something? Get a life? Thanks, I already have one. Got a nice big house too, no living in my parents basement for me. Got a nice big bed, a very comfortable Lay-Z-Boy recliner for reading, and a decently paying, stable government job.

When I'm waiting for a page to load and it's taking a while, I just go and do something else. You, on the other hand, apparently sit there and watch the page load, becoming increasingly annoyed at the page for not loading faster. Tell me... who has the life here?
