Sorry but that's just how I feel. I've none a lot of people. People who introduce themselves as Christian come off to me as if they believe that being Christian makes them better then everyone who isn't, which is why they'll tell complete strangers that they are; but like I said, that's just me. I guess it could be bitterness from coming from a Catholic school and knowing I was more likely to go to heaven than any of those hypocrits even if I didn't believe in it. Besides, I know people. If an argument starts in that politics/whatever thread people will carry animosity against users into threads that have nothing to do with religion. It's just the way things are.
Crap! I'm late again...Just goes to show I need to be here more often.
Ok...my input.
Pink, please...Even tho you may have met those few people in where ever you are from does not mean ALL people are like that. I know alot of Christans that do not think of them selves as higher than anyone. I myself DO NOT think myself as higher than anyone...period. You shouldn't just judge people like that with only the few you have met. Too tell you the turth...you WERE being narrow minded. Not everyone is like that. Give people a chance.

Pete, welcome to insanity, you'll get along fine here.
Pink. I'm Christian/catholic. I'm not preachy. Nor do I agree with what the current church stands for. But I deal with what other people have to say. If they insult me PERSONALLY, that's one thing. If they simply say their beliefs, that's fine. Learn to not be so closed minded....

Re: ...and sanity was no more.
wow. Who would have thought that my religious beliefs would have started such an interesting thread of conversation? As it stands, I take great pride in knowing I have started a bigot on his warpath by being "wholy[sic] defined" by my belief in God.
Sidebar: Pink, did you even read the rest of my introduction, or simply gravitate to the word you could find the most fault with and ignore the rest? I listed fourteen attributes about myself, and yet you only see one. It saddens me to know that such close-minded people exist. I asked you to change my perceptions, but you are only reinforcing them.
heh dont worry about Pink, peter. I think she left
Hmm I havnt read that enders series in many years... i should pick those up again.
Screw the Ender series. Apart from reading about other disfunctional portuguese families than mine, the series after the first book was a bore (Maybe except for the Shadow parallel novels). Read Alvin Maker. And.. uhh.. Worthing was pretty good, too.
ABNER DOON!! AHH!
Edit: Err.. well.. all those ideas about Philotic strands, non-space (?), Faster-than-Light Travel, and the Ansible were all very interesting. It would be awesome if it was non-fiction. But it isn't, so whatever.
I believe that people are generally stupid, and it will be up to you to change my perceptions.
First off, it is not that I fully disagree with this; however, I feel that this statement also shows some narrow-mindedness. I believe that you should even accept that you too exhibit stupidity. People are stupid about different things, and some of those people that you think are just really intolerable because of their stupidity might know things that you do not. We all rely upon other people in one form or another; I do not believe that any one of us is totally self-sufficient. Part of growing up and becoming a mature adult is realizing that you are not smarter than everyone else. Secondly, it is not for us to change your perceptions.. That is all up to you. Only you can fully change what you think and feel. Maybe if you opened your mind a little more, you could see some good things that you are missing out on in the world.

I don't know about anyone else, but I sure did not find anything in your intro post that jumped out at me saying that you are open-minded about everything. Your statements, to me, really came across as that you had prejudged "peter wiggin" for having said that he is a Christian. Generalizing about everyone that announces their faith in Christianity, and stating that those people have a holier than thou complex is a prelude to narrow-mindedness. I feel that it would have been in your best interest to wait to decide if you liked him or not based on later posts. Often times, if not the majority of times, one post is nowhere near enough to really figure out what a person is really like. In the future, it would behoove you to get to know someone before judging their character.pink_cherry wrote:Fine. Be ignorant. You guys completely misread me and now choose to be complete asses about the whole thing. Whatever. For you to even consider me narrow-minded shows you don't know me, which means you don't really fucking read these intros. Well go fuck a cactus. I don't know why I bother to try to be social with you rejects.

Peter: Ignore the bad stuff....it doesn't happen very often (at least in my case) I generally let that stuff slide. Let them ruin their own day, not yours.

Re: ...and sanity was no more.
Hm. many things to reply to. First of all I LOVE all things Orson Scott Card. His writings have brought me joy at times of general boredom in my life. He is only second to the genius that is Spider Robinson. If you don't know of him, go find his books now. If you have read his books, open a new thread in general discourses. I'd love an outside opinion.
Secondly (and apparently lastly), the Dolphins? PACKERS ALL THE WAY(next year)

actually, I prefer the Rams (this year)
Orson Scott Card: Read all the Ender series, all the Alvin Maker series, and I read about half of one of the 'Return to Earth' series, but then the book got misplaced sometime during my move to college and I've not been able to locate it since...
I'll definitely look into that Spider Robinson fellow
