Can you help me think of this movie?

I was joking, but all the same, we'd better hope Lucas doesn't see this thread. It might give him ideas.
I still remember when the title was announced for Episode II.
"'Attack of the Clones'? You're kidding, right? Please say you're just joking. That can't possibly be the title, can it? Can it? ... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

Again, I say, Lucas started to go crazy while finishing Return of the Jedi.
It's been downhill since.

Lose the racist speech. Permanently. I don't care if you think you're making a point, or being sarcastic, or even funny. It ends now.

[quote="Amanalphion";p="246394"]We ought to forget that episode I and II ever existed and turn the whole thing over to Peter Jackson.

This is, without a doubt, the worst idea I've ever heard.
...he'd just replace all the Ewoks with elves.

[quote="Amanalphion";p="246965"]I seriously doubt that he would replace Ewoks with Elves. Besides, I'm not saying he should remake the original trilogy; I'm just saying that the task of doing the prequel trilogy should be entrusted to him. After all, he can't hardly do a worse job than Lucas, can he?

I'm sure someone once said almost the exact thing when they turned the Batman movies over to Joel Schumacher. "He can't be worse than Tim Burton!"
...and you're right, he wouldn't replace the Ewoks with Elves. The Elves would simply, inexplicably, appear to fight in the final battle.

[quote="Amanalphion";p="247177"]Oh, come on. It's not like he'll turn everything he touches into LOTR. At least, I hope not, seeing as the next film he's doing is a King Kong remake.

In case you missed the gripe, I'm cheesed off about his adding elves to the Battle of Helm's Deep in The Two Towers. I suppose I could make pointed bitches about everyone under four feet tall automatically becoming comic relief, but it just wouldn't be the same.
Psst. The Evil Humans steal King Kong from his island temple... where he's worshipped by Good Nature Loving Elves.

Amanalphion, on the TTT commentry, the writer explains that the reason she added a couple of elves to Helms deep was because they couldn't show;
a) the elves fighting their own battles elsewhere, as that would need a whole other film,
b)Elrond's sons showing up in ROTK, as they would have needed a bunch of establishing scenes.
Oh, and Last Knight, Ive said this before, but I constantly argue that Gimli being comical doesn't detract from his badassedness.

Did you imagine the final sound as a gun? Or the shattered windows of a car? Did you ever imagine the last thing you'd hear as you're fading out was a song?

Yes. Yes, it does. Having to be saved by Legolas every frickin' time in TTT, including almost drowning in a puddle... words fail.
I should probably mention, for the record, that any beef I have with P.J. or the movies is more an irritation than actual anger. I'm not all that psychotic.

For the start, I apologise for the thread-jack
Personally, I love the portrayal of Gimli in TTT.
For a start, he gets all the best lines, (my favourite is when him and aragon sneak out the side door, look at the entrance and see about 250 Uruk, and Gimli goes "Oh c'mon, we can take 'em!")
He is very good natured, when Legolas is ribbing him "Shall I get you a box?" he just laughs.
okay, so he falls face down in a pool of water, but he kicks incredible amounts of arse in the rest of that sequence, and at the end when they retreat to the keep, they have to drag him off.
Remember FOTR? how can the bit in moria:
Anyway, I always consider Tolkiens dwarves as slightly inherrently comical.
They're so very similar to elves in the fact they're fantastic warriors, craftsmen and artists, but unlike elves they're down to earth (to an extent, they are very proud beings), affable and upfront to the point of crudity, which can come across as brashness, or rudeness, but is very refreshing when compared to the poncy, brilliantly beautifull elves.
Except perhaps for Gollum/Smeagol, Gimli was my favourite character in the books, and in the 3 films it is the same.

not be considered badass?Let them come! There is one dwarf yet in Moria who still draws breath!
