So.. everyone gets a day off with Christmas, right ? Isn't that actually against the constitution, government favouring one religion over another ? On the other hand, you can't give everyone a day off on every major holiday from every religion..

Did Congress make a law that says no one can work on Christmas? No? Well, then its not really unconstitutional. If businesses decide to close for the day because most of their workers would take the day off anyway, whats wrong with them giving everyone the day off?

Yep, there's still a lot of places open. There's just a heck of a lot of people who celebrate Christmas.

Even non-Christians celebrate. Some Atheists celebrate it as "Atheist Children Get Presents Day," and I always celebrate "Economic Recovery Day."

No matter what religion you are, I think anyone can appreciate a day off of work. I know if they said "You get May 17th off because it's an ancient tao holiday" I wouldn't raise a big fit over it. I endorce any holiday or occasion that gets me out of work and school.

Yes, but what if you're for example, muslim, and you wouldn't get free on a muslim holiday, but everyone would be free on a christian holiday..

Um, dude, they'd let you off for a muslim holiday.

"Hey boss, it's hibjibida, the muslim religious holiday for erecting sheep, I need to go home and spend the afternoon flocking my tender."

'Yeah... uh... sure'

Actually, Christmas is a federal holiday, in which all non-essential government employees receive the day off. I work for a government contractor and the government pays for all our federal holidays. These includes New Years, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. So although the government does not require us to take the day off, it would be pretty weird for someone to work on that day.
