Split the religious discussion off into its own thread off in S&P. You can find that thread here: Religions.

Some day I'd love to figure out what type of person goes that far back through the archives of some obscure sub-forum.

Agnostic, technically.

They're generally referred to as "clueless noobs."

Of course, most "noobs" (and other people) get caught in a trap. If they start a new poll that's been done, they get yelled at for starting something old and done. If they necro something instead, they get yelled at for necroing an old thread.

C'mon people - it's been two years since this thread was last posted in. There's been a lot of new people in the last two years. Perhaps these threads are interesting to them.

I doubt they're much different from the type of person who takes time out to wag their finger at the net necromancer.

I did take the opportunity to look through this thread, which is interesting to me. I even gave my answer in the poll, but I'm going to keep my vote to my damn self thanks. I will talk about a lot of stuff on this forum, and spread my ideas. But I will not speak about my religious beliefs with people I am not related to. Seriously--my best friends don't even know. Because people take too much stock in what religion somebody is. It designates me to something, to an assumed line of thinking that may pair me up with people whom I would never, ever, ever want to be aligned with. (That's not a clue--that's true of every possible option on this poll.)

Yes, I realize that this fear of discussing religion makes me a bit of a wuss. So be it. Call it the fear of God if you'd like.

And seriously, let this stuff go. I realize that's kinda the pot calling the kettle black, but still!

What does that have to do with going two years back into the archives?

As I hinted in the first line of that post, I don't understand how taking time to rip on that guy is any better than going into the archives to bring back a thread nobody thought to lock.

The rest of the post? Oh, that had to do with the thread itself. I don't see the use in posting in a "necro'd" thread if you're not going to at least address the topic of the thread.

I'd just seen that someone had posted and posted myself =(

Think of necroing as a way to get to know the newer people. They're trying to be polite enough not to start a new version of an old thread and allowing you to see their opinions on the topic. It can always be worse =\

Aw, don't mind the grognards, newbiefolk. Most of us will grouse about anything, needed or not.

Also, Cid, "call it fear of god, if you like" ... would that be a clue? ;)

Ha ha, no. I wasn't trying to be specific. I'd have said "fear of a diety," but the cliche has the G word.
