Re: [FFXI] General Chat
Excuse the rave again but:
First - LVL 26 WHM on Diabolos
Second - Been playing for a few months and logged time is over 14 days (340 hours or so)
I am not even close to being sick or bored of this game. I have played it as much (I think) as I have played any other game in my life. By this time normally I would have moved on to the next title, and then perhaps come back periodicaly, realizing I had fallen behind my friends and given up. If that were the case, I would make some new friends right quick.
From what I can tell the reason that this game is so fantastic, is because it has great rewards that can not be obtained from some loophole (such as a buddy giving you sweet armor when you first start). It stretches the game out in a very effective manor. Examples of these things are (I know some are in some other games but...) carefully thought out spell levels, armor, and weapons. The imperitave need to party to gain XP. The travel methods that open up so much more of the world as you progress. The innability to sell quest items. The AH, the bazzarr, and the maket that is created by them.
I have a few real life buddies and they do not play as much as I do, and I was almost getting ready to bum about it, but I have made so many other player friends.
I just killed my first NM, and got my <Kahzam> airship pass yesterday and I have a new found vigor to play. This is not that the game was lacking anything... It just keep getting better.
Another few things that are interesting (please let me know if any of you have experienced these):
1. After leveling or traveling to a far off area and you return to your home country, there is a pridefull feeling that you get when you approach the city gates, like a warrior returning from battle. It's a comfort like you are returning home.
2. When you are leveling at lower levels and you party with a person, and then you see them a few weeks later and they remember you, it's like you have actually run into an old friend.
3. Sometimes there are people that lavel at the same pace as you so you see them throughout the game, even though you may never party with them. This reminds me of High School Homeroom classmates. I never actually new some of them but I always passed them in the halls.
4. I know there are some dildos in this game, but I would say that 99 percent of the people I have met are cool. This is unheard of in the other games I have played. Sure there are a few spam tells and people kill stealing, but as a general rule, there are very few assholes in this game.
Anyone on Diabolos want to say hey, need a WHM or a PL send Dragomaloph a tell.

i had a nice time as a whm too... till i got my kazham airship pass and got there.... waited a while to get a party... then a guy just start flooding my screen with party asking..... i refuse the $%&*$% and he never stops.. till i finally find myself a party and go venturing with them.... to get more flooded by that guy while fighting.....
sadly the blacklist command wouldn't work at that time... and after an hour i got pissed off and left the guy there.. leaving my party.....
since then i started leveling a few classes..... i'm not broke as i was anymore(you're ALWAYS broke as a whm)
but i still haven't played in a few months.... simply cuz that guy made the game bad enough for me to start hating it.....
sad but true story

Yeah, I hate how some people expect you to join their group simply because they sent an invite.
I used to think that sending a /tell before sending an invite was a waste of time, but it really is a necessary formality, especially if you're trying to snag a WHM. As a WHM, there's nothing worse than joining a group and realizing the group composition is ATROCIOUS. And... being the WHM, you know you'll get flak if you try to leave. Ugh.
But that's really only in the heavy newb training areas. Usually by the time you get to Qufim, people start getting more intelligent and respectful.

Not so much now I'm afraid. I find I still keep running into morons until I get into Yhoator Jungle. But thats just me, and I'm a snobby kind of person.jesse, stay asleep in bed wrote: But that's really only in the heavy newb training areas. Yup. Me loves me the Windurst. I usually operate out of Jueno, but every once in a while I go to Windy simply because I want to go home. After which I promptly leave because I have nothing to do there. After leveling or traveling to a far off area and you return to your home country, there is a pridefull feeling that you get when you approach the city gates, like a warrior returning from battle. Well, at least until I start my AF quests.
Too true. I started playing at the NA release, and made a few friends. Now most of them are high levels and I'm lower because A) I'm a RNG, thus finance holds me back sometimes, and B) I go to school and work part-time, whereas most of these people work full-time, and thats it, so they have more time to play.Sometimes there are people that lavel at the same pace as you so you see them throughout the game, even though you may never party with them. This reminds me of High School Homeroom classmates. I never actually new some of them but I always passed them in the halls.
But they're a few people who I see in Jueno every once in a while. They wave at me, and I wave at them. Old friends passing.
We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled; but how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere? Tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?

Re: [FFXI] General Chat
I just starting playing again a few days ago, have a level 7 RDM on Phoenix, I used to play on Asura, had a level 14 RDM but quit in Febuary. Character name is Anishia.
I decided to use my USB controller this time, its basically like a SNES controller (6 button M$ sidewinder), has L/R, Directional pad, 4 buttons and I can't believe how much easier the controls are for the game now. I highly recommend getting one.

Re: [FFXI] General Chat
Hey guys, I'm thinking of buying FFXI, but I was thinking. Do you pay each month MANUALLY or do they charge you automatically? Because if I don't play for a whole month, then I don't want to pay. Please answer my question.
You must have a credit card to play FFXI. When you register an account, you give Square-Enix a credit card number, and will then be automatically billed $12.99/month. The billing always occurs around the first of the month.
(You get a free 30 days after purchasing the game too - the way this works is that your first charge is reduced by 30 days worth of play time, so if you register in the middle of a month, you'll be charged only half for the second month.)
You can play additional characters for an additional $1/month. If you don't play for a whole month, you will still be charged the $12.99.

Actually, while it is an Automatic Rebill, you can cancel it and reactivate via the PlayOnline software which you use to access the game anyways. Its easy and painless if you don't mind navigating a long list of screens and entering in your PlayOnline ID and Password.

[quote="Mishotaki";p="368273"]i have heard that if you unsuscribe through that method that your activation code becomes useless and that you need to buy another FFXI copy to play again....
heard that on some FFXI webpages forums....[/quote]
That is incorrect. I've done it twice now. Its never invalidated anything, and my character has always been there waiting for me.
