Clinton urges Syria-Israel peace talks

Post by Bjarni Herjolfsson » Mon Jan 12, 2004 9:39 pm

In the past Israel has been really bad at just about everything. They are currently in violation of 73 UN reolutions and many of their moves are being condemned internationaly. I think Israel is not above the law and should listen to the UN like just about every civilized nation is doing. Here are some links.

The related stories under those are also good. What does everyone think about Israel's actions?

Israel needs to rethink some of what it's doing. I feel they should be a bit more compromising. That having been said, I also believe that Israel has a right to look out for it's own interests before the interests of the nations of the UN that are making resolutions, and whatnot. To be perfectly frank, my opinion of the UN isn't especially high. It has no power. It is an organization with a lot of hot air, and little substance.

On another note, I think Clinton needs to accept he's not President anymore, and stop trying to get in the press.

So Bjarni Herjolfsson, tell us, are you a big fan of Israel? :)

PS For future reference, an Arabic publication is probably not going to be taken very seriously as an objective and complete news source in regards to matters involving Israel...especially Israeli/Arab relations.

Did you even read it? The arpatheid wall was built on Palestinian land, under a UN resolution Israel isnt allowed to annex the Golan Hights, Israel isnt supposed to be building illeagle settlements, Israel is supposed to withdraw from the occupied territories, Israel is supposed to allow UN monitos into its borders. All those are UN reolutions that Israel is violation. Non of them challenge its self intrest against terrorists. Israel should abide by international law because it isnt special.

PS For future referance, American pro-Israeli News sources aren't any better.

I gennerally prefer BBC for a fairly moderate view of the Isreali/Palastinean conflict.

Fishmonger had a point. And Deacon probably doesn't give a damn about what's on those articles, however he probably will read them after I make this comment just to prove that I'm wrong.

*sigh* More American anti-UN hate talk. Gotta love it.
*sips ice tea and sits back to watch* This should be amusing.

I acknowledge I am not educated enough to make an informed decision on how to solve the problem in the Mid-East. I think I'll join the Dok over in the corner. While you guys play armchair 'quarterback' for what is going on in the world.

Dok, is that tea sweetened? Can I have some?

Agree on that point, the usa is far from impartial here. If i didn't know better i'd think whenever it comes to the palestines, the usa foreign minister takes his orders from the israelian internal affairs minister..

Israeli should leave the occupied territory once and for all. I'd say the problem is Israel but in fact, the problem is Sharon and Arafat. Also, Washington should stop its support to Israel for good. Aside from that, I don't know what would be the best solution.

Yeah, but that's crap. You get attacked, you take some of the other guys' stuff, you're done. Don't do the crime...
