Ah yes, sword cleaning... Well, first, make sure you do it a lot, I've just gotten a bit of rust on my blade, and it's left behind this black crap. When you come to clean it, there's no better sword cleaner then a can of Briteshine. Just tear off a wad, and rub. Ain't nothing better!!

... wow I just wasted ten minutes reading thru enough debate to make my head spin. However I will take a side with Garr on everything he has said. Listen to the man he knows what he's talking about... and for the love of all that is holy eihger read the previous page of posts before posting something that has already been discussed.
Mavolent, Katana, translated means "head cutter" (I think),..... but either way teh word for Sword in Japanese is "Ken" or "-to",.. a Katana is a japanese, curved blade, long sword,...
Mavolent, Garr is correct here. What you just said is a common misconception with Japanese swords. In fact, my uncle has another Japanese sword called a Dotanuki (though I don't know if it's named after the maker, or it's the name of the sword itself). It's somewhat similar to a Katana, but there are also some differences that you can easily pick out.
