Stupid non-door holding people! *grumble grumble*

Post by mikehendo » Sun Feb 01, 2004 6:22 am

Well, heres what happened, for the most part.. I was just commign back from my GFs place and on the way I picked up 2 12 packs of coke..
So anyways, i drove back to my apartment and went to carry them in.. I saw another guy walking towards the front door of my complex and figured that if I caught up to him when he opened the door, I would be able to get in without havign to pull my keys out..
So I am walking up behind him, he opens the door, looks back at me, and then closes the door behind him.
I go to stick my foot in so that it doesnt close.. The force of the door closing and the ice on the ground causes me to slip.. my left foot lost traction.. my right hand went down, with one of the 12 packs in it, my hand crushed the cardboard box sending the cans flying..
The bastard looks back at me and says "oops"
It could have been worse though, I had my backpack on.. and in it there was a glass bottle of vodka, so I am glad that the bottle didnt break when I fell backwards on top of it.

What I want to know though.. is, in the words of Phong, "Why can't people hold friken doors open ?"
/end rant

I have no idea. I usually go out of my way to open doors for people who need it, and if I'm there, I'll hold them open for people who don't need it.

Rude people are everywhere. I either try to avoid them, or run them over when I'm driving.

Gah...in Ottawa, it seems like everyone holds doors for everyone else, and everyone smiles and says "Thank You" and "You're Welcome"...VERY few jersk.

I miss Ottawa now :P

Hmm, I usually don't go too out of my way to hold doors, but I'll hold em open if someone is clearly coming towards it..

A) They're girls
B) They're carrying something in both hands

I've actually been chewed out FOR holding a door open for someone. I was more amused than anything else, but for some, any outside help for rather simple tasks. Makes them feel like second-class citizens, helpless, or whatnot. Food for thought.

And for the record, mikehendo, I do not associate your name with any of those characters in the LEAST.

Same here Shroom. I got chewed out for holding the door open for a girl in one of my classes who was carrying a stack of books, she yelled at me for being sexist. Its feminists like that they make me want to trash them all..

I always hold the door for most everybody I can. Particularly women or the elderly.
