:-p I do when there's something to post about. Unfortunately there normally isn't much ...
... anyway. Shootouts in the regular season are good. If no one wins after a 5:00 4-on-4 OverTime, let it be decided by a shootout. One team still gets 1 point and the other gets 2 points.
But keep it out of playoff Hockey, of course. Playoffs are meant to be long and grueling, and consecutive periods of 20:00 are much more exciting and enjoyable when you know someone has to win.

Yeah I agree, it makes the gamewinning goal all the more exciting after three overtime period

[quote="sneaky ninja";p="335741"]Shootouts are okay, but it's way more fun to watch exhausted hockey players have to push themselves even further than normal, with all their hopes riding on just one goal. It has the same entertaining and suspensful quality as a good movie

The thing is none of us are saying that things like playoff games should have shoot-outs. We're talking about regular season play, where all they do is a quick, 5:00 minute 4-on-4. And if no one scores, it ends in a tie.
That's not exciting. Or more specifically, games that end in ties just leave you with an incomplete feeling in most cases. So why not add a shoot-out to the game after that short OT period?
Again, playoffs should not have shoot-outs. Those are exciting, full-on 5-on-5 Hockey that I have seen go on into the fifth OT in recent years. Those are exciting and fun.
